I read many forums and wasn't getting a straight answer. So I decided to buy one and see for myself how could a $200 scope compare to the $1500 comparisons. Again I am impressed.

Athlon Talos does not live up to its reputation
I bought one of these and after mounting it on my rifle I discovered that it would not illuminate. Optics planet replaced it immediately. I just mounted the replacement on its permanent host, as I just received my custom barrel, and discovered that the cross hairs sit at about a 45 degree angle with...

I bought this to go on a CZ 455 Tacticool rifle. Glass is very clear-really zooms in great! This is my first Athlon scope, but won’t be my last-great product at a great price! Thanks Optics Planet-the scope arrived on time and well protected.

- Checks every box

Initial Scope for my Ruger Precision Rifle
This is the scope that I chose for my Ruger Precision Rifle, I wanted an entry level scope to match the rifle. Unboxing the Athlon Optics, I was impressed at the level of packaging that this entry level scope came in, it was better than some of the higher-level optics that I have. Optics were better quality than expected, and there were not any issues with the optics that I could see from my initial inspection. Both the Elevation and Windage caps fit very well, and the turret adjustments were tight and had a tactile feel to them. The Parallax adjustment was nice and have a consistent feel. The magnification ring was great, it was tight and had a good feel - it was easily adjusted and there was not any sloppiness to it when turning. The illumination was a little distracting on the initial setting, but with the level of adjustments, it was easily remedied. The only con that I could find, was the clearness of the optics past the 16x magnification, although this was not a surprise for an entry level scope. Overall, this is my first scope from Athlon Optics but it will not be my last. Very good quality, and very usable for my needs.
Pros:
- Machine Quality
- Packaging and finish quality
Cons:
- Clarity at 24x
Best Used for:
- Long & mid range hunting
- Target shooting
- precision shooting

Great scope for the price
Like i said, great scope for the price. The 50mm objective lens brings in a lot of light. The illuminated reticle makes all the difference in low light scenarios. I like that you can take the turrets off and set to zero. The only problem i have is when tightening down the top turret cap, if i tighten it down too much, it actually moves the turret. I just don't tighten it down too hard and its not a problem.

Athlon 6-24x50 Talos rifle scope
Very well-built scope. Scope is clear all the way up to 16 power then starts to get a little less clear. But after
some focus adjustment it clears up a little better on power ranges past 16 power. Scope is in a very good price range for 6-24x50.
some focus adjustment it clears up a little better on power ranges past 16 power. Scope is in a very good price range for 6-24x50.
Pros:
- Construction
- power adjustment is easy
- Price and warranty
- Illuminated BDC Reticle
- Side adjustment paralax, holds zero well.
- 6-24x50 power
Cons:
- past 16 power gets a little less clear but with some extra fine tuning will help some
- side parallex is really tight at close up ranges to turn
Best Used for:
- Hunting and target long range

Great product at this price point
I primarily use all Vortex scopes on my rifle but after seeing a review on Youtube comparing scopes at the $500.00 price point or less I was impressed when this scope was listed in the top 3 along with the Vortex Tactical. As I already have a a rifle paired up with the Vortex Tactical I decided to give this scope a try and paired it to a new Cascade XT in 308. It is a SFP scope and all of the features worked extremely well the windage and elevation turrets are very tactile and you feel every click. The scope was extremely bright and clear and the magnification range worked flawlessly and was good enough that I did not need to use my spotting scope. This scope paired to the rifle listed allowed me to shoot some impressive groups off of the bench using a rifle mounted bipod at 100 yards, one group measured 0.455 and a second group measured 0.796. So overall I am impressed and pleased with the scopes performance and looking forward to using the lighted reticle for early morning and late evening shooting.
Pros:
- Ease of use
- features
- Warranty
- Price point
- Construction
Cons:
- Didn't note any on my scope
Best Used for:
- hunting and target shooting

Wow! Just wow!
This is one crazy clear scope. Recommended to me by a friend. He knows his stuff but I really wasn’t expecting such a nice piece for the price. I paired it with Vortex scope rings and put it on my beloved 30-30 Marlin. I’m literally losing my mind waiting for a day above 32 degrees and calm so I can go dial this sweet scope in at the range. It’s very clear and really lets in the light. Sooner or later, deer steaks will be on the menu.
Pros:
- Big dollar scope for small dollars
Cons:
- None so far !
Best Used for:
- Range fun and hunting
