This thing is great
I have heard over and over not to buy ATN products because they are poor quality. Well, I can tell you I have tried gen 1, 2, and 3. This is a great product. I still have a hard time justifying the price although I am a cheapo and this is still way less than it's anything similar on the market. ...

Very Disappointed
Ordered two and had to return them both because the didnt work. The second one started smoking. I called ATN directly and after spending near $2000 they wanted me to pay to ship it to them. What a joke. Find another brand.
Thumbs up
I have this mounted on a Savage 110BA in front of a NightForce 56mm scope for hog hunting. It works as advertised. It is essential to get the right raised rings to match the scope's optical path. With the 110BA these were medium height rings). Easy on and off the 1913 rail in front of the scope. Anything higher than 6 magnification is unusable. A case would be nice but a small camera bag works too. The IR illuminator is so-so, could be better but not unusable. Works about what you would expect with gen2+. I use a FLIR to spot heat sigs then switch to the rifle. I have a Pulsar 550 but in cold weather the reticle begins to scroll. There is also the issue of zero switching scopes and the difficulty of doing it at dusk. The PS-22 eliminates these issues. I wish I could have gone for a gen 3 but just couldn't see dropping another grand. Given the range of night shooting (a couple hundred yards anyway because of the low magnification) the gen 2+ is fine.

ATN PS-22 Gen 2 Night Vision Scope
This item is everything that I expected.
It works great in low light, I have not needed to use the I.R that came with it yet. I can see things clearly at over 500 yards with no problem.
Pros: This item is awsome, it works so well.
Cons: none

UPDATE
I noticed a point of impact shift after my brother and I both missed head shots on some pigs. We are both avid hunters and take a lot of animals every year. We shot strictly testing it and noticed the dreaded Point of Impact shift this unit (and other front mounted systems) are cursed with. It cost me about $60 to send it in and they had it shipped back within 2 weeks. I have shot hundreds if not a thousand rounds using it with lots of calibers, including a crossbow. The shift was consistently about 3-4 inches at 60 yards, it shot high right. I could have just adjusted my scopes but that defeats the purpose, right? I got it back and shot only 20 or so test shots with a .22 and it was about 1/2-1" high. I can live with that. Only time will tell if it's a one time "fix". I expressed my concern in my letter with my RMA and was insured it was fixed right and once and for all, we'll see. To be honest, the .22 might be sighted in a little high on purpose. I don't recall. All I know is that there is a vast improvement. I have since seen the competitor for this on optics planet. I haven't tried it and don't know much about it. It does have some cool features like low battery indicator and wireless remote on/off, which this unit lacks but unless that has an actual switch too, I'd be worried to lose the remote. However; the atn ps-22 is well built and every one of my buddies that looks at it comments on the image clarity and apparent quality of construction. One beef I have with ...

****UPDATE***** PS-22 CGT REVIEW
I have used the heck out of the PS-22 target shooting and shooting pigs. When I got the unit I didn't actually "test" it per say. I just put it on and started hunting. It worked but I noticed my kill shots were often a few inches off from where I was aiming. I thought it was me until I shot a few pigs during the day time with the same rifle and in fact it was dead on. Also, my brother and I both went for head shots at 100 yrds at complete rest and had complete misses. I ended up making a video of the issue and the file was too large to put on youtube.com. I tried it on no less than 5 rifles with the exact same results. In my case, it is off by roughly 4 inches at 60 yards. I will say this though: The pressure switch cover fell off (even though I have never used it). I called ATN and within 2 mins of being on the phone they got my address and had one in the mail at no charge. I did call them back (now that I won't be hunting for a few weeks) and get an RMA number to send in my PS-22 for calibration. It cost me $50+ to send in with insurance and all I can say is I hope it comes back working correctly. I have enjoyed using it and it seems plenty rugged and waterproof. I would still recommend it provided they are able to get the issue fixed permanently. I did consider just "counting clicks" on the scopes and getting them all adjusted the same to compensate, but with my luck I'd forget to set them back during the day and I think it defeats the reason for getting the P...

Quality
I purchased the CGT version. First impressions are very good. Under full moon with a 4x scope I can make out hogs clearly at 100 yards and see blurry objects out to 300 yards. Under low light, effective range is about half that. Overall this is a great value, but it's no gen 3.
Pros: professional quality, attaches quickly, rock solid mount
Cons: limited visibility with no moon light, instructions are poor

Gen2+ = Gen2 not Gen3
This unit turns your dayscope into night vision without the hassles of removing and rezeroing day scope. I bought the Gen2 CG instead of Gen3 due to it's price. I have experience with Gen2 and Gen3 night vision eqpt and if you can afford the Gen3 it's worth it. The Gen 2 gives up some clarity but not much range compared to Gen3. This unit easily performs with the best Gen2 units I've worked with. You can expect a range of 400 yds under ideal starlight, add another 200 yds with a moon - not bad!!!
Pros: Inexpensive compared to Gen 3, Easy setup & worhs pretty good
Cons: Gen2 isn't as clear as Gen3
