When I first tried out the night vision monocular, I was a little disappointed. I could see things in a dark room, but not that much better than without. Then I realized that I had not removed the lens cover. There is a tiny hole in the lens cover that allows you to use the monocular in normal light. Once I removed the cap, I was very impressed. Basically you can see very well as long as there is just a slight amount of light, ie. in a room with the door closed and just a tiny amount of light sneaking under the door. Enough so you could make out the light under the door but the room itself is totally dark. With that small amount of light, you can see everything like the lights are on. If you then go into a closet in that dark room, all is black. But even then, you can turn on the IR light and you can see everything. It does require you to focus using the front lens, but it is quick and easy.

Overall the image this tube displays is good. My disappointment with it is that no where in the description does it tell you that this pvs14 is not designed for mil-spec mounting. Wilcox or Rino mounting systems do not work. As long as you don’t care about what mounting system you use or that it is limited strictly to ATNs equipment then go for it. If you’re new to NVGs I would strongly recommend getting help from someone that can build your full system for you. It will save you a lot of time, money, and frustration.

Their customer service is none existant. I will never purchase another product from them. They will not provide any helpful information, return messages or assistance. Better off buying cheap chinese junk.

Most of the mounting parts are not industry standard. I was also led to believe it came with the harness for wearing without a helmet.....it does not. It also requires an ATN brand helmet mount. Your Rhino will not work

Perfect as monocle or as placed on the 1913/picatinny rail on your rifle. Very pleased!!! Well made and works really well in VERY low light. It also works excellently with the IR features on my Steiner!!!

WPT is awesome over gen2/3. Never tried gen 4 but there seems to be something inherently better with seeing things in B&W versus green. The only thing that I think could make it better is if it wasn't as sensitive as all NVG are susceptible to and that is light.

Also, i wish the scope did not have a built-in IR illuminator as this has repercussions here in CA regarding sniper scopes. The issue is not as a stand alone but in combination with other configurations.

I HAVE HAD SIX NIGHT VISION DEVICES IN MY LIFE FROM GEN1 TO 2S,DIGITAL TO GEN3 MILITARY GRADE. BUT IM HERE TO TELL U THIS UNIT BLOWS THEM ALL AND THEN SOME OUT OF THE WATER CLEAR AND SHARP CRISP IMAGE WELL WORTH THE MONEY!YOU DONT EVEN NEED MOON OR STARLITE FOR THIS BABBY TO WORK BETTER THAN GEN3 !
