Best Features for the Money
Great Product for the money. I recommend this to anyone. I can't see spending hundreds or thousands more on generation 3s. These are compact and the infared makes them even better.
Pros: Excellent field of view

ATN Night Star
Bought one of these over 10 years ago for $100 out of a magazine. Made a high pitch ringing sound when activated. You can "deactivate" the IR illuminator if you unthread the IR LED out a few turns. The image intensifier finally died this past year, had alot of fun with this little gadget.
Pros: Compact, Easy to use.
Cons: No IR ON/OFF, Noisy.

3X Night Star
I bought one of these in 3 power last hunting season. Mine must be a newer model, because I have no noise when I turn it on, or when it is in use. It is hard to see when trying to look through a window. But just open the window and it works fine. Never had a problem with the IR illuminator. It's a 1st gen so it was exactly what I expected.

Would have been a nice unit - for the money - if you could turn off the IR source. That also eats the battery up far more quickly.
Pros: Inexpensive and decent quality.
Cons: Cannot turn off infa red light source. That means you cannot look out through windows - as the IR bounces back to the unit. That means you must be outdoors to use this. I wanted it so I could look at the animals that went by - from inside my home. Buy a unit where you can turn the IR off.
