Very cheaply made. Expected a lot more.
To quickly explain why I was expecting much more - MidwayUSA sells their work mat for $30. It's 50% larger than this, 3x as thick, made from vastly superior materials, has weight to it, and grips the table well. This Avid mat is thin and made from the cheapest materials. It slides around on the table with every motion, and my heavier guns poked right through it if it caught a sharp edge. The toolbox on the side is useful but also made from what appears to be the cheapest, thinnest 3D-printed plastic. The detachable toolbox's lids don't even have a hinge. Rather, it's just plastic covers that you're meant to forcefully bend into place. Meaning they will break relatively quickly with even the most casual use. I ended up laying this down and placing the Midway USA branded mat over top of it, leaving only the tray exposed.

XL Smart Mat
Huge Mat that covers majority of my work bench which is a 60x22. The storage bin that connects to the parts tray is amazing and ingenious. I use the bins to hold several small part/field repair kits, muzzle brake shims, thread protector orings, and forward assist. The parts bin hold all my extra small Allen keys, triggers, Mlok mounts, screw drivers, levels and anything else I toss in it. On the end of mat there are some small magnets out of the way so the gun isn’t rubbing them. There is also an included roll pin magnet that can be used for super small parts which comes in handy for some pins/screws. The mat itself is a solvent absorbent pad that doesn’t have any crazy schematics or designs on it which keeps the work area clean and uncluttered.
Pros:
- Size
- Multi Application
- storage area
Cons:
- Rare
Best Used for:
- Gunsmithing
- Building
- Maintenace and cleaning
