It’s been two and a half years and this plate carrier is still holding up to daily patrol work. It’s run fully loaded and utilizing soft armor plates from AR500. Could still be improved but it’s impressive especially for the price

Just received the VX-500 tactical vest in the mail. My first impression is that it seems legit. It’s not perfect but what is and for the price point it’s appears to rival more expensive plate carriers. It has some features that more expensive plate carriers don’t, but it could also be improved. I bought this to check out the zipper attached cummerbund. I didn’t have high hopes and was expecting to return it. While I was a little disappointed to find the zipper was nylon and not metal it appears to be heavy duty enough. Fits my 11x14 soft armor plate just fine, and can be adjust to fit smaller then advertised. I have a 37 in chest. The cummerbund accepts 6X6 plates without the need for additional pockets which is nice. Could be improved by adding pals webbing to the shoulder pads and more hook and loop to the back pals. I had to add some Velcro strapping to attach my ID panel. Also swapping the hook and loop with snap for a zipper to open the lower kangaroo pouch would be great. And of course upgrade to metal zippers. I’ll up date the review in a few months, gotta see how it handles daily use.
