The oem stock was such a beast on looks and pitiful performance to boot, but Boyds came to rescue and changed the ugly beast into a fair-haired maiden!
I chose the "nutmeg" classic, great on looks and I plan to pillar-bed so the accuracy should be on par, the rifle I bought was the compact model, so I'm looking for light weight which is still plenty light for a laminated stock.

How to change plastic into wood !
This review is not about alchemy, but it is about replacement stocks, the replacement for a Savage Axis short action in particular. This Boyds stock will replace the ugly original for a compact model.
A big shout out to the staff of OPTIC PLANET the package arrived 2 weeks earlier than expected and packed very well to protect the stock.
If you buy a Boyds stock, there will be a small detail cleaning and sanding but overall is a good solid value for your bucks spent.
