Most Helpful Positive Review The Brunton 70P is an excellent compass
I have a Wilderness Systems Tempest 170 kayak which has a molded in recess for the 70P. Installation was simple but the guide and instructions would have made a more challenging installation possible. The compass is very stable and easy to read in rough conditions and it is a high quality piece. You need a recess to mount it flush since the globe protrudes above and below the mounting plate. Brunton 70P Compass, great buy!

Purchased the Brunton 70P Compass for my Boreal Design P2 kayak. Great value for the buck! Received the compass within 5 working days. It was well packed with bubble wrap, easy to install & easy to read. Very pleased with this purchase. Even the border taxes (not nice) it was cheaper then purchasing it in Canada.

Brunton 70P

I have one of these which has been going strong for 15 years. I needed a new one for a second kayak. It is a lovely steady compass, easy to read and great for navigation.
There is a collar underneath the mounting to set the lubber lines if you need it in a position which is not square to the hull. The mounting screws are small but would be easy to upgrade if they start to work loose.
Pros: Large, steady card - excellent compass
Cons: you pay for what you get!

Brunton Watersports Marine Dash Mount Black Compass 70P

Other pros include easy mounting on marine dash with four included non-magnetic screws. Template cut-out guide included with dimensions of screw holes and compass body.
Pros: Large 5 degrees gradation giving high legibility. Double scale-top and edge readings allowing for simutaneous direct bearing and reciprocal bearing. Permits transverse tilting up to 30 degrees and unlimited tilting fore and aft.
Cons: Illumination for night time use and magnetic disturbance compensator come at additional costs as accessories.

Only Compass that fits my kayak

This was the only compass i found that fit my Necky Kayak (Looksha-poly). Just cut a hole and it flush mounts in were the 4inch flat spot is on top of the deck and looks great. These are the same compasses that delta uses on there kayaks.
