Most Helpful Positive Review 450 Bushmaster is awesome!
Was not really interested in AR platform until 450 Bushmaster was becoming popular. This upper shoots amazing with shots touching at 100 yards. Very happy with purchase! I did have an issue with shells not ejecting with any force at about 75 rounds, found the BCG had some black grease in it that was...

Most Helpful Negative Review The good, the bad, and the ugly
I would like to first address a few technical notes. The two 91700 uppers I received in August 2018 arrived with .750in low profile, dimpled gas blocks, NOT the miniature Picatinny block featured on most websites. As mentioned in other reviews, the handguard is a stout 7 inches long, with light to m...

Mostly good but not perfect.

by Cory, from WA, United States Written on August 23, 2019
Upon receiving my upper I see it has a low profile gas block instead of one with rails like whats pictured. I field stripped it to clean and inspect and what I noticed was that the coating on the bcg was a little rough but nothing too crazy. Put a light coat of clp on everything and call it good. Loaded up the provided mag and could only get 4 rounds in. Thinking that’s odd considering it is supposed to hold 5, I gut the magazine and what do I find? A 5.56 follower on the bottom of the mag spring! Sweet! Gotta love freebies! Ok, so I make it out to shoot and I load 3 rounds in the mag. Put the mag in the gun, pull back on the charging handle, let go... and failure to feed. This continued to be an issue for the first few mags while using the charging handle. If I locked the bolt back before inserting the mag and used the bolt release there weren’t any issues and eventually things broke in enough that using the charging handle was fine. Another thing to note is that other reviews have mentioned sharp feed lips on the magazine. It doesn’t feel excessively sharp to me, but I was finding slivers of brass every time I cleaned the bore so they might be on to something. Lastly, it seemed pretty accurate but by the time I got the scope somewhat dialed at 100y, I was getting a little recoil shy. 60 rounds of 30-06 in a session starts to become uncomfortable, 40 of .450 made me not want to shoot it anymore. I see a muzzle brake in my future.
Pros:
  • powerful
  • Accurate (I think)
Cons:
  • Tons of recoil
Best Used for:
  • hunting

Great choice

by onebadhunter, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on April 29, 2018
How are you all, I am very happy with the choice I made buying the 450bushmaster. it is A great shooting gun with all the knock down power I would need to get the job done. Plus you can buy the ammo for about $23.00 a box. And hit what ever you aim at with great accuracy.

450 Bushmaster upper

by Python, from MI, United States Written on April 18, 2018
This is a great product I have built four or five of these rifles Remington and Bushmaster really knocked it out of the park this is a very accurate gun my buddy and I are shooting 6 inch steel Target at 400 yards with ours you can't beat that you'll definitely not be unhappy with this and if you're choosing ammo Hornady shoots the best in all four uppers I have tested
Pros:
  • Big bang with a low kick
Cons:
  • Wish they would have used a better handguard
Best Used for:
  • Deer and hog hunting.

My Next Slayer

by jonny c, from IN, United States Written on March 24, 2018
I also had no interest in the AR format until the 450BM was legalized for Indiana deer hunting. The picture is not accurate as others have mentioned (looks like the 20"). 16" is fine for my purposes-short and maneuverable. My initial 100 yard groups are under 3" and likely improve with some trigger work. So far, for about 50 rounds, its functioned flawlessly. Recoil is much less than a 12 ga slug-more like a magnum muzzleloader load. The Barns SST bullet is what I currently use in my muzzy; So this is like my muzzy on steroids and semi-auto. Ive only run the Horady ammo. My complete gun with scope and sling is 8.2 lbs. For repeated shooting I would recommend a good recoil pad. My 16 yo nephew enjoyed shooting it.

No complaints!
Pros:
  • Accurate
  • reliable
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Deer and hog hunting.

Rick's rview

by Rick, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on March 20, 2018
got my bushmaster upper and immediately installed it on my stag arms lower. Easy to just push two pins and drop upper into frame and push pins back in.. i bought everything to reload as factory ammo is pricey. i have not sighted the gun in for accuracy yet but had to test fire it asap.. the only prob i had was that the trigger on my stag arms was so sensitive that the gun double tapped in recoil recovery. I you are recoil shy stay away from this gun if you can handle a 45-70 then is is a really fun gun.. i would recommend this upper to anyone.
Pros:
  • Fun to shoot, good price
Cons:
  • Recoil is a bit frisky. About the same as a 3006 firing 150 grain factory ammo.
  • may need trigger adjustment
Best Used for:
  • Plinking Hunting
  • ability to kill any animal on north american continent

description

photo is not the actual upper
the upper i received had a 8" float and different barrel with different gas block location when i contacted optics planet i was told that it is normal to receive a upper that is different than pictured but the biggest problem with the description is that it doesn't describe the upper to let the consumer know how much different the item is especially when it is a different upper
