Most Helpful Negative Review bushnell 2x28mm digital sentry nv
I bought this digital night vision sight so I could both mount it to a helmet and on a rifle. The clarity is good. I have only tested in town not out in the woods yet. It is very clear and has lots of detail. It uses ordinary AA batteries and they do not last long. I would recommend either lithium AA size of rechargeable AA unless you want to buy a lot of batteries. The range I have used to view this sight at night has not exceeded 50 yards but everything was crystal clear. I will update this when I get the opportunity to get out in the woods with no external lights except the stars. My main r...

Just didn't work

by Aj, from OH, United States Written on November 1, 2020
Ain't much to say other than it didn't work, when first unboxed it sort of worked, it would turn on sometimes and sometimes it wouldn't, after messing with it for an hour or so it just stopped working period.

A complete disappointment.

by ToddJ70, from ND, United States Written on August 7, 2020
Like most, I purchased this PVS-14 “clone” to wear on my helmet which would allow both night-time visibility and the ability to use my red dot optic. My cons: The field of view is VERY minimal; helmet mounting is horrible (not stable and does not line up with your eye); battery door is cheaply made; device is not weather resistant. My Pros: The image (resolution and clarity) is awesome; the image is in full color, not the typical grey or green; uses standard batteries.

Summation: If you want a tactical, robust, digital NV head or weapon sight, this is not it. Probably great for Airsoft players, hiking, camping, etc.
Pros:
  • good price
  • Great image quality
  • Uses Standard AA Batteries
Cons:
  • Not Weather Resistant
  • Horrible Field-of-View
  • Not Good On Tactical Helmet
Best Used for:
  • hiking
  • camping
  • Airsoft

Worked once

by J.R., Verified Owner from IA, United States Written on August 24, 2018
To add to my previous review, I put the rubber eye piece on and went back outside and it wouldn’t even turn on. Total piece of junk. Also, in the manual several times it references different illustrations 1.2 and 1.4 etc that are not there.
Best Used for:
  • scrap

Not satisfactory

by J.R., Verified Owner from IA, United States Written on August 24, 2018
I just tried it out after getting it. First off, it doesn’t have a helmet mount. It has a peice that mounts to the monocular that can then mount to the piece that attaches to the helmet. The illumination is poor. No where 200 yards. Maybe 100 feet. Also, it constantly needs focus. If the distance you are looking changes 20 feet, it has to be focused. I am very disappointed
Pros:
  • AA Batteries
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Recreation
  • walking at night

I removed it from the box and I was pleased with the robust construction. Heavy plastic gives the appearance of durability. Using it in daylight the objective lens Focus brought the viewer into Crystal clarity. Unfortunately night View is where this little scope falls down. The IR illuminator is not aligned to the bore sight of the scope. It is underpowered and aims to the right of line of sight making it useless at anything over 50 ft. I used the scope on a dark night with cloud cover and without the illuminator it has no visibility whatsoever Outdoors. While the construction appeared solid , the attachment nut is shallow and of light metal. The mounting screw would not tighten on the scope, leaving the scope loose and sloppy . My experience with night vision is 30 years old, I used Generation 1 equipment in the military and was expecting this scope to be an approximate equivalent. It falls far short. I would not buy it again.

Worked for a few minutes

by Bradley Hermes, Verified Owner from OK, United States Written on November 30, 2017
I purchased this as a stop gap as I was needing something immediately and economically for a night time hog hunt. The unit looked well constructed and seemed nice right out of the box. I put brand new batteries in it to test it out. Using it in my dark house, the resolution was crystal clear using the illuminator. Suddenly, for no apparent reason, the screen went white, then black, and never turned on again. It ran no more than 10 minutes before self destructing. I've returned it for store credit and plan on buying a different monocular. The hogs will just have to wait.
