Most Helpful Positive Review Good scope
I bought it for an AR, which it was designed for. I've had it about 2 years. It works well, I just wish it had locking adjustment turrets. Other than that it fine. I paid over 300 for it on this site. It's good for match shooting because of the ability to rapidly transition for distance. Would no...

Most Helpful Negative Review Bushnell https://www.opticsplanet.com/v/ar71424i-bushnell-1-4x24mm-ar-optics-riflescope-w-illuminate
I ordered this optic twice and both times what was in the box is the non illuminated drop zone scope. 71424 is what is in the box. The box ID and product are correct, 71424I but the box shows the BTR1 reticle and that it is illuminated. It is supposed to be the illuminated BTR2 reticle. What is in...

Exactly as expected

by ArmySgt, Verified Owner from MI, United States Written on June 11, 2025
Building a scout 556/223 rifle, scope was perfect for cartridge and unexpectedly love the folding magnification lever. Did not know it had non-locking turrets but so far is not an issue for me.

Slick LPVO for hunting

by Will Combs, from AL, United States Written on September 6, 2024
Bushnell sent me this scope when I sent in a discontinued model for service under warranty. While I do kinda miss the one I sent in, I must say this scope is really nice! It is on my 16" hunting AR, works wonderfully, and has withstood. I like the simple/uncluttered reticle, and the 1-4X zoom range is plenty for my application. Illumination is nice - low brightness levels for twilight conditions, and high brightness for if you want it to stand out from the foliage. Eyebox is pretty forgiving, too, so a racing heart won't throw your sight alignment off and that's one less thing to worry about.
Pros:
  • Clarity
  • simplicity
  • reticle
  • illumination
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • hunting

Nice little LPVO for hunting!

by Will Combs, from AL, United States Written on March 12, 2024
Bushnell sent me this scope when I sent in a discontinued model for service under warranty. While I do kinda miss the one I sent in, I must say this scope is pretty nice! It is on my 16" hunting AR15 chambered in 6.8mm SPC. It works wonderfully, and has stood up to the wear & tear of a number of trips.
My scope, a Bushnell AR71424I, is a FFP scope. It seems that Optics Planet has the AR71424I scope mislabeled as SFP. (I checked at a number of other webstores, and they have the AR71424I listed as FFP.) I very much like the very simple reticle, and the FFP feature is nice. No giant crosshairs, no "Christmas Tree" layout, just a circle with a dot and a few BDC hash marks. Very nice reticle design! It is strange that Bushnell has the subtensions in MOA, but the turrets adjust in MRAD.. but it's only a minor inconvenience. It's only a hassle during the zeroing process, and then once you're zeroed, just leave it alone.
The glass has a generous eyebox, and nice eye relief. Getting on target is super fast!
Included in the box are interchangeable "tips" for the zoom ring. It comes with the short tip installed, or you can swap it out for the large tip that's included, or you can go without either one. I like the short one, personally. The short one AND the long one both fold down to lay along the fat part of the scope near the shooter's eye, so they don't always stick way out when not in use. That's a cool feature, and one I wish was more common!
The illumination knob goes in alter...

Ruger AR556 - perfect fit

by cmkaltmail, from MD, United States Written on April 14, 2023
Rec'd today, quick shipping. Placed on the picatinny rail, adjusted a few times for the proper eye relief, leveled and locked in 30 mins. Comes with extra thumb knob, covers, tool and assorted extra screws, plus dust cloth in attachable small stuff sack (approx 1"x1"), and extra tool. Nothing cheap, heavy duty construction. Clear picture, easy to see crosshairs. Perfect. Looks sweet too.

Perfect AR Pistol Deer Hunting Set-up

by Dan, Verified Owner from MN, United States Written on May 31, 2022
Impressive, crisp & clear, durable. MN allows you to hunt deer with a pistol, so I got a 300 blk AR Pistol and wanted a leaner, lower-power, budget friendly scope that could hold up to the recoil (using super-sonic for hunting). Can't beat Bushnell's AR series. Negative reviews all state that it's too heavy, but checked with competition and this one is the same weight or lighter (and half the price) of Vortex and others. Just had to do some math to convert the .223 reticle to Mils so can use it the way I want for holding over. Liked it so much, bought one for my dad and recommended it to friends who are all converting to 300 blk AR Pistols instead of slug shotguns for deer hunting in MN. Has held zero for 2 years, also does just fine in low light.

Adjustment of turrets

by Phred, from SD, United States Written on December 16, 2020
Bought it for moonlight and low light coyote. Elevation and windage adjustments listed as “ one click 0.1 ml” . There aint no click so adjustments only made by eyeballing numbers on turrets. About what you would expect for the price.
