Most Helpful Negative Review Great camera - bad data plan structure as advertised image per plan is not even close to accurate
I've owned Bushnell wireless cameras since 2015 so I'm no stranger to how they work and what plan works for me. A few months ago my Bushnell Trophy HD Wireless model started failing so I decided to upgrade to the Impulse. This model has a lot of features that were well thought out, and I am satisfied with the camera itself, but there is a huge issue with their data plans, and this may make some people think twice before buying this model. Since I have been using cellular cameras non-stop for the past four years, I'll list the pros and cons of the Bushnell Impulse. PROS - The Impulse has e...

Very disappointed

by Disappointed, from NE, United States Written on November 10, 2021
Bought this camera in 2020 and it started to fail almost immediately. Picture quality is poor. Camera consistently shuts down in field. When I contacted Bushnell they said I needed to do a hard reset by taking out batteries and putting them back in. Have had to do this multiple times. Kind of defeats purpose of a cellular trail cam. Bushnell knows this is a bad product but refused to replace camera or refund money. Go buy 3 tactacam trail cams for same money.

Impulse cellular trail camera

by Cubby 2, from WA, United States Written on June 16, 2020
Plain and simple it is a terrible product. It will use your data up at the lowest settings. It has had two upgrades which you have to format an sd card to upgrade something that should be sent by bushnell. Bushnell finally sent me a different camera. Same problems. At least 10 phone calls and very lengthy wait times and no resolve I had them take the camera off line. It hasn’t done what they advertised. They did say they were sorry. I don’t recommend this camera unless you have lots of time and patience. Terry

Don’t buy yet

by Butch, from LA, United States Written on January 25, 2020
I received this camera as a Christmas gift for 2018 but didn’t get it until late February of 2019 because of unavailability. Unfortunately I didn’t set it up until hunting season of 2019 to find out night pictures were totally black. Returned camera to Bushnell for repair/replace as directed by one of their techs as well as 10.00 money order for return shipping. They sent me another camera the was doing the same thing, but I kept changing settings remotely via phone app and eventually got a pic I could see. After having to go back in the woods several times to remove batteries then reinstall them to reset camera it will not capture image when command is sent from app and pictures are inconsistent some are blacked out some are so poor of quality can’t identify items in pictures. I’m getting ready to return this camera as well and my advice is to not buy until problems are worked out since over 60% of the reviews are one star. Don’t like to bash any manufacturer especially Bushnell since I do own a Bushnell Throphy Cam HD that is 4 years old and has taken over 10,000 photos and still working.

Bushnell Impulse treal camera

by David, from TX, United States Written on November 11, 2019
Even if you got one of these for free You'll get screwed.I'm on my third Impulse"warranty".The last one ran about 2 weeks and stopped sending pictures...IT WAS A REPLACEMENT for the one that lasted 3 weeks.I bragged on the Aggressor"previous model" and 3 days later it died;isn't that strange. My deer lease is 1 1/2 hours away;Over 8x to retrieve this JUNK....READ the reviews... Totally RUINED my 2019-2020 hunting season. And Michael Waddell backs Bushnell???

Update to my March Review

by JCM, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on September 12, 2019
After going through about a dozen of these cameras, I have three that are working flawlessly. The others were all either returned to the retailer or went to Bushnell for evaluation and eventual replacement. The thumbnail photos are more than adequate for most instances and when you want just a little more detail you can download a high-resolution with a click of a virtual button using either PC or phone app. Same for videos. You get a thumbnail of the first frame and if it is of interest download the video at whatever resolution the camera was set at when the video recorded. I'd now give these cameras five stars if the billing and data used sections of the on-line apps was not so confusing & the data plans more flexible...and it has become virtually impossible to get through to customer service in a single call. Having said that, once you do eventually reach a human being they are friendly, professional and happy to get your issue(s) resolved. The data plans could be greatly improved if unused data from a month gets rolled forward for future use. Instead, use it or lose it is the rule. I'm also experiencing an issue with discrepancies on which camera(s) have a monthly plan and which have an "annual" plan. Bushnell needs a separate line for billing issues.
Pros:
  • Photo Quality is Great
  • Video Quality is Great
  • Wireless Uploads can be set to "quick" or "daily"...knowing that "quick" burns more data.
  • All camear settings can be done from phone or PC app.
  • Photo on Demand
Cons:
  • No rollover data, use it or lose it
  • Customer Service Lines are Jammed
Best Used for:
  • Feeder Camera (if legal in your state)
  • Trail Camera
  • Security Camera at Entrance to Your Land

wireless function and customer service is terrible

by Harrison, from UT, United States Written on August 21, 2019
I purchased 3 of these cameras new from Bushnell. From day 1 I've had continued problems with these cameras. After weeks of trying, I never was able to get 1 of my cameras to connect to the wireless network. I contacted Bushnell and they told me that there was something wrong with the (new) camera and that I needed to ship it back to them for a replacement. I inquired as to who was paying for the shipping and they told me I was to pay for it, and that I'd be lucky if Bushnell paid to ship the replacement back to me. I re-contacted them twice to ask if they'd be willing to pay for the shipping since it was a brand new camera that was broken, and Bushnell just ghosted me at that point.

The other 2 cameras that I have been trying to use have been completely intermittent. If I didn't need the wireless function of the cameras they would be great, but the wireless function is terrible! There are so many settings that have to be "set just right" in order for the wireless to work, and none of that info is in the operator's manual. When I've called to get clarification or instruction on things not in the operators manual, I'm treated very rudely and impatiently. When one of my cameras finally does work in the field, I will suddenly stop working and I have to again make a trip to the mtn, bring my camera home to fix it, then take it back up again and pray that it works that time (which half the time it hasn't). What's frustrating is that I get no help from Bushnell's custome...

Great Concept, Failed Execution

by JCM, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on March 25, 2019
Camera in wi-fi mode is simply not reliable. Takes decent photos, but can't keep a wi-fi link consistently even when showing four bars of wi-fi signal strength. On-line interfaces for PC and phone appps worse than useless.

Let down customer

by Abe, from CO, United States Written on January 26, 2019
Nothing but problems with this camera. Works one day then nothing. Customer service was excellent they even stayed on the phone while I went and got my camera. If they can get the camera to send pictures to your phone like it supposed to would be an excellent product but unfortunately it doesn't. Maybe I'll try it again later but not going through the "fixing the bugs out" time period on my dime. Thank you customer service for all your help. Good luck!
Pros:
  • Awesome features
Cons:
  • dont work
