Most Helpful Positive Review Ultra HD/ED Spotting Scope Exceeds Expectations.
The Bushnell Ultra HD/ED 80mm spotting scope exceeds expectations. It is brilliantly bright and clear. Your landscape lights up when you look through this spotting scope. Images are well defined, with vivid clarity and contrast. I like the adjustable mounting band which allows you to swivel t...

Most Helpful Negative Review Poor performer for the money
I had high hopes for the Bushnell Legend HD 20-60x 80mm spotting scope. This was to be a replacement for a 200 dollar street price Konus of the same basic spec. I use a spotting scope in High Power rifle competitions. While the Konus was adequate for scoring purposes (the primary use) I often practi...

I have never owned a spotting scope before so I spent a lot of time comparing various brands & models. I ended up going with the Bushnell 20-60x80 Legend Ultra for several reasons. First and foremost was the price. Several comparable scopes were 3x the cost, or more, than the Bushnell. Second, would be for Bushnell's great warranty. Lastly would be because it's Bushnell. I owner several of their products through the years with no complaints. So for what I use it for it's great. Clear, bright and seemingly rugged although I haven't fumbled it yet. It may not be as good as some of the higher priced spotting scopes but for the price, I'm happy with it.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Quality
  • Warranty
Cons:
  • None as of yet
Best Used for:
  • hunting
  • long range target shooting

Perfect spotting scope to see .223 holes on splatter targets up to 300 yards

by Bill, from FL, United States Written on February 16, 2018
I did a tremendous amount of research on spotting scopes before selecting this Bushnell scope with ED glass and after 2 days at the range, in drastically different situations (80 and sunny/ 60 foggy damp and windy), I can say that it worked flawlessly for my purposes (range use) and I have zero reservations! I was able to see my impacts very clearly on Birchwood Casey shoot and see targets all the way out to 300 yards (my club's current max). I read a couple reviews to the contrary here and on amazon and the only thing I can think of is they received a defective product or they were using a inferior targets (radioactive splatter targets were harder to see since their "splatter" was almost non existent.)The targets and glass were very clear with almost no distortion magnified at 60x on targets 300 yards away. I also went through several tripods trying to find the right one and found the perfect tripod that allows you to use the scope from prone, sitting and standing positions - The Slik 340DX. Best part of all it was only $60 and it has a metal 3 way pan head unlike all the other products at this price point that have flimsy plastic heads. This scope is a little on the heavy side 5LBS so you need a sturdy tripod.
Pros:
  • value
  • Ease of use
  • Clarity
  • Warranty
  • ED glass
  • Quality and craftsmanship
  • price is amazing for the features
Cons:
  • a little heavy for field use
  • wish they made a soft carry case
Best Used for:
  • range or bird watching

Bushnell 20-60 x80 45 Degree Legend Ultra HD Spotting Scope

by Happy Hunter, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on November 23, 2016
Received my new Bushnell spotting scope, took it out and used it to sight-in a new rifle scope. At 100 yards it was very easy to see where I was hitting paper. I was able to adjust the rifle scope. The clarity of this spotting scope was exceptional and easy to use. I am very happy with this purchase and would indeed recommend it. You might pay a little more but the quality is well worth the additional amount.

Just to big and heavy to cary around.

by Trainman, from GA, United States Written on July 31, 2016
After reading the good reviews, I purchased mine from Optics Planet.
I wanted a spotting scope to take to the shooting range and to use on hunting trips.
My purchase was made several years ago and the scope has virtually sat in the closet since day one.
The fine focus tuning feature is a great one and so is the scopes image clarity out to about 250 yards.
Beyond that range, along with for use in low light situations, everything becomes optically very disappointing.
For me the real problem is that this thing is a monster. It is very large and weighs around five pounds.
The size and weight alone make it totally useless for backpacking on a hunting expedition. That was really the main reason that I bought it.
The poor image quality beyond 250 yards also makes it not usable as a scope on long distance target ranges.
Bushnell usually has reasonably good products, but for a spotting scope I suggest you look elsewhere.

Good but not the best (even for the money)

by scooter, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on April 9, 2016
The big question is: would I buy it again? Probably not for what I wanted to use it for; here is way. I intended to use it for distance of about 200-300+ yards and wanted to see, with reasonable clarity, a small sharp detail. There are 2 things I've learned very quickly:1. chromatic aberration plays a significant role at 60x and a bit less so at 40x, so images are "soft" even at good daylight- this scope disappoints .2 in the evenings, the 80mm optics gathered much less light then I was expecting so it produced dim images. I am finding myself using 20x-30x more often at the cost of less detail but deeper & brighter field of view. All that said, at less then $500 is probably what I or anyone should expect from it. If you decide to acquire 40x+ scope, make sure that you invest in a very good, solid tripod! Slight motion, even a few minutes of angle (a very slight movement or vibration) at 300 yards translates to 3 inches of motion and sometimes it looks like many feet off the intended object.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • Sharpness of focus

Nice product

Great for spotting on the lake or ocean. Images are sharp, and controls/focuses are quick and easy to use. It's a mile across the lake, and about 2 miles to nearest islands, and the freighters go thru right out in front of our house. This scope makes it easy to view all. We plan to use it for ocean viewing this winter. So far we like it alot.

I use this for long range scanning of the mountainside (approx 5 miles away) and it has a very nice, crisp image. Quite impressive zoom at 60. Easy to use and focus. Looking forward to bringing it to the range.

Excellent Product at Excellent Price

by Chuck, from FL, United States Written on February 21, 2015
I did extensive research on spotting scopes and finally determined that the Bushnell 'Legend' was the best value. The determining factor was the ED Glass in the Legend. This feature is great for long distance target shooting, and is unheard off in other manufacturer's products in the Legend's price range. Almost purchased a higher priced product without his feature. Very satisfied with CTD speedy delivery.
Pros:
  • Great value, great scope
Cons:
  • None

Bushnell Legend HD spotting scope

by Bill, from MO, United States Written on August 29, 2014
I bought this, a tripod, and a pair Legend HD 10 x 40 Binoculars. I think the scope is pretty good . I compared it to others on a trip to Yellowstone viewing wildlife. I compared to a Leica another guy had and it was not as good, but the other guy told me mine want bad for what I paid for it. His was several years old and over $4000. I don't plan on viewing wild life daily and have an extra $3500 in my pocket. The scope worked well and was very clear for what I purchased it for. He hated my OPMD Tripod and said that was probably my biggest issue not the scope. It functions well and adjust well. Its a little heavy, but you get what you pay for. I don't plan on backpacking it up mountains. The case is soft with some foam. It works for what I do. I wouldn't want to throw it in the back of a pickup on an African safari and expect the scope to not damage. But if you use the case and pay attention as a prudent person would , I don't see a problem. Did I mention I loved the Legend HD 10x40 Binoculars I purchased at the same time... LOL.
Pros:
  • economical
  • good optics
  • good focus
Cons:
  • None

Bushnell 20-60x80 45 degree

by Denis, Verified Owner from QC, Canada Written on July 31, 2014
Merci Bushnell.
Pros:
  • High quality
  • vision claire
  • prix allechant
Cons:
  • nothing
  • rien
Best Used for:
  • Tir a la cible
  • vue de longue distance
