Most Helpful Positive Review Butler Creek - now featuring less grenading.
This thing is tough. It's tough enough to use as a replacement car door hinge. It's so tough, if you put two of these on each end of a nuclear bomb and then set it off, smoke MIGHT come out from between the two caps. Maybe. If it was a big nuke. All kidding aside, I have used the majority of scope covers out there, and this style (flexible rubber) is by far the toughest made. If you have ever had the wind pick up and knock your rifle over on the caps only to leave you wondering where the broken bits of scope cover went, these covers are for you. Pros: Grenades less. Cons: Robs ...

Worst Scope Cap ever!

by i3auer, Verified Owner from AZ, United States Written on October 15, 2015
I ordered this, and a Vortex scope cap because the other butler creek flip caps were not in sizes that I could match for my scope. By the way, all their scope cap sizes are like a puzzle, and different types are different sizes and not updated on the site. I got it in, it barely holds on, slides around. It pops open ok, takes a little extra effort to lock the cap forward. To get the cap on, you have to play with it and mash it down to get it to stay closed. Of course it can't be on too far to get it to close properly, therefore it's not really a good seal. I threw it in the garbage.
Pros:
  • None come to mind
Cons:
  • Cheap, poor function
Best Used for:
  • Garbage

Good design

by AR, from CA, United States Written on February 12, 2015
This product meets my expectations. The cap folds flat. The hinges are more durable than the other Butler Creek scope caps. I will rate it 4-stars except it's a bit hard to close properly with one hand It's not a very tight fit for my 30mm 1-4x scope. More sizes would be nice, especially for the 1-4x and 1-6x scopes.

Durable Hinge

by Alan - ATL, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on December 19, 2014
This design seems to be more durable than the original. The old style seemed to be fragile and i was often replacing them. I wanted to try this design as it seems like it will hold up better. If this works well I'll be switching all my scopes over to this style.
Pros:
  • cost
Cons:
  • None

sharp shooter

by Jim X, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on November 23, 2014
These caps are the only way to go for tactical caps. They lay down flat unlike most other caps. This leaves you with a greater field of view with no obstructions. The Multifex living hinge also allows you to turn them to the side or bottom to clear accessories or your preference.
Pros:
  • Waterproof
  • clear view
  • Adjustable fit to your weapon
Cons:
  • None.
Best Used for:
  • Tactical and hunting
