Excellent Feel at a Good Price

Written on Jun 10, 2022

This is a great grip -- for the money. Very good for a budget SPR, AR-based precision rig, or chassis rifle that takes AR grips. It feels like a much more expensive grip. The texture is nice, and to my hand, it's very comfortable.
However, being as it's produced and sold for a fairly low price, be prepared for some fitting on some lowers. If the safety spring doesn't extend far enough to reliably engage the safety, as stated in another review, use a small hex set screw or other spacer to lift the spring. If it weren't for that sort of caveat, I'd give it five stars, but it's still a very nice grip for its price point.

Excellent Lightweight BCG

Written on Apr 29, 2022

Machining is excellent. Finish quality is excellent. Functions normally in a normal gas system, but tuning your gas system and recoil springs will be necessary to get the full benefit of the lighter weight without compromising reliability. Definitely reduces felt recoil impulse in any case, but tuning will bring out the best it has to offer. I actually replaced the chrome firing pin with a WMD NiB-X pin to get full Nickel-Boron coating on the bolt group internals, but the original would have probably been fine. The bolt has radiused lugs similar to JP's enhanced bolts, but does not use the thickened area around the cam pin that the JP bolts do. However, I believe that feature is proprietary, so it may not have been an option here. The bolt also has old-style three piece gas rings rather than the more modern helical type. That's easy to fix if it bothers you, and not at all crippling to begin with. Still, it would have been nice. All in all, though, if you have to have those features, it still makes sense to buy this carrier group with the bolt and replace it with whatever bolt you prefer, because you're still getting a good quality Nickel Boron coated bolt that can be kept for a spare or used on another build for only a very small markup over buying the carrier by itself. As for me, I think I'll be upgrading a few minor components, and leaving the Nickel Boron bolt in, because its machining is very good, and it's 9310 steel. It's well beyond the level of durability a
