No nonsense (or batteries) 1x sight

Written on Feb 14, 2021

Red dots were all the rage at one point. Now low power variable optics. The beauty of the 1x cyclops is it's robust simplicity paired with a recticle that provides a lot more versatility than a red dot. I consider this sight to be some of the best value for anyone who wants a reliable sight that doesn't have to rely on batteries to be effective. This could be used similarly to a red dot, without havingn to rely on batteries which automatically makes it a serious contender for anyone who is considering putting a rifle together and leaving it in storage for a long time. The ACSS reticle also allows it to be used effectively to gauge distances of targets that at 18" in diameter or 5' 10" tall. The flip caps are also a plus, I personally prefer keeping my lenses covered as much as possible, not having to keep track of a bakini cover is a plus.

Night vision - thumbs up.

Written on Jan 04, 2021

This works well as a versatile light. White light or IR. The white light isn’t anything special, lots of wml’s can put decent white light on target. Where this light shines (pun intended) is that it also has the IR. The IR works well as a general illuminator for night vision. Paired with a PVS 14 Gen 3 it makes seeing in complete darkness possible. The night vision already amplifies any star light or ambient light, but sometimes an illuminator is needed because it may be hard to believe, but there still are shadows with night vision.

First dip into NV and IR - great product

Written on Oct 23, 2020

Let me start out by saying although this was the first dip for me into IR and NV, that I did a lot of research ahead of time to make sure I would be content with my purchase. This unit has a simple interface of controls to use as either a standalone unit or in conjunction with the included tap switch. Sighting in is easy with the slaved IR laser to the visible green laser and the IR pointer is very crisp for use as a aiming point. If I had to state an area of improvement, that would be the intensity of the illuminator - which I understand to be not the fault of the unit, but the hinderance of IR intensity options legally available to civilians due to arbitrary laws.

It does everything wanted it to be able to do, serve as a sight for use with NV, with or without the illuminator. The visible green laser is
"neat" and helpful for sight in purposes but beyond that, I don't have any plans to use it. The included lever mount at the base is good enough, although it would be better if it sat lower, cant have it all I guess. I decided to put it on a Tavor SAR and run the tape switch down to the backside of the front of the trigger guard - you'll have to decide for yourself how best to integrate it with the rifle you intend to put it on.

If a friend asked me what to get in terms of a NV IR set up, I wouldn't hesitate to point them in this direction.

Best Handstop/grip

Written on Jun 14, 2020

This product is something that may seem like not that big of a deal at first before using it, but it fulfills the purpose of a handstop perfectly. Most grips are bulky, this one is not. Additionally, it allows the use of the support hand to better apply rearward pressure into the shoulder. Again, this might not seem like a major improvement, but consider without it, the only rearward pressure the support hand can help provide is based on the fingers physically gripping the handguard, this allows the edge of the hand to act as leverage eliminating the need to deathgrip the handguard whatsoever.

Best offset irons available

Written on Jun 12, 2020

The functionality is superb, personally I prefer offset BUIS than those in line with optics, trying to use BUIS through red dots are cluttered and clumsy, if you truly meed to use BUIS, wouldn’t you want them to be as useable as possible? I try to put them on every upper, they just take some practice to get used to (just like everything else). They are low profile and stout, if you break these you are probably trying to do it on purpose or have no concept of the torq needed to secure them.

Fits Sig Romeo 5 great

Written on Dec 29, 2019

The sig Romeo 5 is a lot of red dot for the money, the biggest drawback is the mount, this replaces the mount and makes it into a QD. That’s a lot of QD red dot for not a lot of dough. Optics planet regularly has good prices on both.

Best sights hands down.

Written on May 26, 2019

They are extremely durable, you could rack the slide off the belt easily with these sights. The installation was simple with the $40 device that can be bought here, and they have made the Glock highly usable in low light conditions. I prefer the straight dot on top of for set up, it’s less busy and for minute of bad guy purposes in low light settings it is naturally easier to line up two dots vertically than have to look at three dots and match them up. This is the standard pistol sight for any firearm I carry.

Great glass, natural low light advantage

Written on Jan 27, 2019

Anyone who has shot in low light knows how difficult it can be to place accurate shots on target when the reticle is difficult to see. Sometimes using a white light to illuminate the target isn’t desired. The tritium insert on these scopes solves that problem. Not to mention the glass is superb. If I didn’t already have multiple, I would take advantage of this most recent sale.

Simply the best

Written on Nov 12, 2018

I have found two dot systems to be faster acquiring night sights. It allows the eyes to simply vertically align two dots and be on target compared to 3 dot systems which is more illumination for the eyes to be distracted by and more dots of input than is necessary to align sights. The front orange high vis also is incredible for daytime use and allows very fast sight alignment and front site on target acquisition making looking through sites to be very efficient.

Just do it already, I too was once like you, thinking I didn't need it. I was wrong.

Written on Sep 16, 2018

I too was once like you. I said to myself, there is no way that I am going to pay $300-350 dollars for a trigger for my Tavor. My Tavor went through a series of stages from where it started as my favorite rifle and slowly fell out of the rotation going to the range, like the #1 girlfriend losing her place slowly to the other 6 until you just stopped calling her except to remind yourself that you still have that available when you want to be nostalgic. I originally bought the Tavor because I love bullpups, but we all know that the stock trigger is terrible. At first I could look past this due to the excitement of having it, but in time because my AR's all have Larue MBT-2S triggers, the butter smoothness of the AR triggers compared to the miniature brick that is pulling the stock Tavor trigger led the Tavor to be less desirable to shoot. I'm 6' 230lbs and am very fit, but shooting my Tavor for extended periods of time led my trigger finger to feel like I had been at the gym lifting weights and only using that 1 finger the entire time. Imagine going to the gym and seeing a guy lifting only weights with his right index finger the entire time and not exercising anything else, completely ridiculous, you get my point. He would probably look like a total D-bag who probably was trying to get to Mr. Miculek status of trigger speed, but going about it all the wrong ways.

OP ran a sale that dropped the price a considerable percentage which finally brought the price to a point tha
