In My Own Words:
Casual Target Shooter, Handloader, AK-47 Owner. The last time I fired an AR, it had a 20" heavy barrel, triangular hand guards, and a full size, fixed black polymer stock. The sidearm was a Colt 1911A1 and the LMG was the M60.
I didn't get it for recoil control. I don't wear armor, so I got it for the additional ½" LOP, and the bigger foot print. It increases the height by ⅜" and the width by ⅜", and the rubber is much more nonslip than any polymer plate. I have 3 rifles with M4 adjustable stocks, and they all wear these pads now. It's a very inexpensive improvement, with a large effect.
This block slides easily into my IWI lower, fits snugly, and locks in place firmly with my mil-spec magazine catch. I may not even need to use the retaining screw. It comes with it's own Allen wrench, so you have something to store in your pistol grip. No alterations to anything were required. All of my SGM Tactical and Pmags slide into it easily, lock up tightly, and fall out freely when released. I couldn't be happier with this 9mm Conversion Block, and I recommend it with no reservations.
I used to use the foam pellets, which were tedious to put in and difficult to remove. These are always handy around my neck, easy to use, and don't interfere with glasses or cheek weld. Also no "plugged up" feeling like you're in deep water. I use them in the shop too, when running the table saw or router. The extra ear pads are a bonus. I plan on getting a few more, so I can have a set near all my noisy power equipment, as well as in my range bag, and one in each rifle case.
The zippers are sturdy. All the stitching is well executed, with no skips. The padding is fairly dense, but pliable. The handles are padded, and the straps go all the way around the bottom, not just tacked on the sides. The magazine pockets are tall enough and wide enough to hold two 33 round Glock-style 9mm magazines side by side. They're also a handy place to store my QD sling. The shoulder strap loops are outboard of the handles, for easy over the shoulder at the hip carry. When I was adjusting the strap, I thought, "now THIS is a man-purse!" I wish there was one more loop at the end, for across the back carry, but I'll manage. The only thing missing is 4 straps to hold your barrel and action in place. That almost cost a star. It's all wide open inside, so the barrel and Optic of my takedown PPC can bang together. All in all, I'm glad I got it, and would not hesitate to get another.
