I shopped a long time before landing on this low cost option. I even purchased and returned some higher end units and still settled on this model. I installed this on my M1a scout on a Basset mount. The generous eye relief is welcome due to the less than ideal ergonomics of the M1 and this light weight optic helps offset the added weight of the Basset mount. 2X zoom is comfortable for both eyes open and 7X is plenty for 500y or so. I believe this optic on an M1a scout is as close to an "all purpose" setup as you can get. Very pleased and will likely order more for other rifles.
I purchased this as an upgrade for my 10-22 project. Its clear, accurate, looks great, and comes with the industry standard warranty. In this price range, the low end Vortex optics cant be beat.
For the price, this stock cannot be beat. Its a very good value. Fit and finish is excellent and much more durable than i was expecting, also customization options make it so you can fit it to any shooter. I installed a bull barrel into this and used the reverse side of the barrel cradle and left the shims out which allows the barrel to float. I initially had issues getting the main screw into the threaded hole of the receiver but after careful inspection I noticed the receiver was not fully seated rearward. I recommend standing the stock on end resting on the buttstock and pushing the receiver down with force as you rotate it into place, if there is a gap and the screw does not fit nicely, repeat till it sits flush. This took me 3 attempts to achieve an acceptable gap width.
I purchased this in order to get a better grip on the charging handle and it looks fantastic. For that it serves its purpose well. However when charging the bolt, the motion is much rougher than the factory handle. This could be due to a new metal rod that is likely not polished vs a 30+ year old factory rod that is most definitely polished by the spring over time. I suspect the motion will slowly become less gritty the more I cycle the action, as the much harder spring will effectively polish the softer metal of the rod. Tantemkross could use polished rods and potentially eliminate this irritation though it would likely drive the cost up a bit.
Any shooter knows trigger pull is a huge factor in accuracy so naturally target centered fire arms have 2 stage or single stage light weight trigger pulls. The factory ruger 10-22 has a heavy trigger pull that is not really conducive to target shooting. This single stage trigger assembly upgrade is a low cost alternative that is pretty crisp and light weight. I bought the red one for personal preference. Its worth noting that the grey portion you see in the photo is intended to keep the pins in place and allow you to cycle the trigger for "testing" My only complaint is that the pin that holds the mag release is quite loose and kept falling out during install.
This is a cool and cheap upgrade for a 10-22 that quiets the action of the rifle by eliminating the clank of the bolt that makes contact with the rear pin as its blown back after a round is fired. Installation was a little tricky, I tried installing it assembled first with no success because the rubber outer piece would not slide into the receiver straight. So I used a toothpick to push the metal pin out of the buffer and coated the rubber portion with cleaning oil and slid it into the receiver first without the metal pin inside (using the toothpick to poke the rubber around until it was fully flush on both sides). Once in position I also lined the pin with oil and slid it through the rubber buffer using the top handle of a screwdriver on the back side to push against so the rubber would not push through.
Very lightweight barrel, looks fantastic and allegedly very accurate. When shopping for a high quality 10/22 barrel upgrade I hit the forums like everyone does and Kidd was a mainstay among the competitors so I took a chance. I have not fully sighted in my rifle with new scope and barrel so I cannot speak to the accuracy yet. My only complaint is that it holds the shell much tighter than the factory barrel which made it so that my bolt would not extract an unfired shell manually. Empty shells eject fine though so its not a problem but I will likely upgrade the bolt due to this anomaly. Installation into my 30+ year old receiver was relatively simple with a surprisingly tight fit.
Not much to say other than it works. These new ones are built a little different than the factory mags from the early years but seem to function the same.
