Picture shows QD, title says "hook"...It is the protruded hook/loop model, not QD

Written on Jun 29, 2019

I was curious about which model of Stark AR grip this was, so I called Optics Planet and talked to Deshaun (sp) who put me on hold and called the Stark help line to find out. After about 10 minutes, he informed me that this was, in fact, the model with a QD attachment on the back. After ordering it and waiting a week for delivery, I found out that this is NOT the QD model of Stark AR grips like the picture shows and the Optics Planet rep told me. This is the model with a loop on the back like the title implies.

I love Optics Planet and Stark rifle grips, but this was somewhat of a disappointment. However, like all Stark accessories I have tried, this item is flawless and functions in exactly the way it is supposed to. I have become addicted to the Stark grip angle, texture, and bottom flare-out; So I can't fault the item itself in any way, but I can fault the site rep for giving me false information about the product. My 5-star review reflects the quality of the item and not the info given by the site itself. The grip plug fits very snug and like every other Stark grip I own, it is fully waterproof and keeps the 2x CR123A batteries completely secure in the plug. The depth of the grip gives me a perfect trigger finger placement every time because it is slightly larger than some other grips on the market. I am 6'3" with semi-large hands, so most rifle grips cause me to arch my finger greatly to get a proper trigger pull. All Stark grips I have tried give me a comfort

Great item and customer support was amazing

Written on Sep 29, 2018

When I received this item, the outer 65MOA ring flickered and vanished. It intermittently came back, but I decided to contact the warranty support for advice and possible repair. Within just a few hours, Sean Holloway of Holosun's California office responded back with an RMA for repair or replacement. 2 days to ship to them, 5 days with them, 2 days to ship back and...They sent me a brand new unit with a much newer serial number than the one I originally had. This was, hands down, the fastest and easiest warranty work I have ever seen. The replacement that they sent me works flawlessly and I've been using it for a while now. Below is my review of the item itself:

This item is lightweight, clear as a bell, and extremely dynamic. The w&e adjustment knobs have a solid and tactile click and are inset into the aluminium frame for protection from abuse. The auto-wake feature is extremely sensitive and even a gentle tap with my pinky finger brings it right back from sleep in the same brightness setting it was previously on. I must admit, I like this feature over my Eotech that must be manually activated and adjusted before each use. The Eotech has a larger viewing window, but also weighs nearly three times as much. I bought this for use on my Extar EP9 which is a pistol caliber carbine that costs $400 and weighs under 4 pounds. I simply couldn't justify spending the money for another Eotech or adding nearly a full pound for the optic on this gun.

I'm stunned at the ergonomics

Written on Sep 16, 2018

When I bought this, I imagined a "thumb-behind" hold like a tommy gun because the forward grip angle is identical to that model (and that is the second-most comfortable grip), but I have been inexplicably impressed by the ergonomics of the "thumb-up" hold of this particular AFG. First, it is a verified angled fore grip (AFG) according to the ATF and can be used with any pistol. Second, the questions I wanted answered before I bought it were more varied and intricate than I could explain. I will attempt to answer those questions here:

Complete grip weight: 3.21oz (91g)
Weight without plug: 2.82oz (80g)
Length of rail required: 3.875in (9.8425cm)(10 picatinny slots and gaps)
Height to bottom tip: 3.4375in (8.73125cm)
Grip width: 1.75in (4.445cm)
Depth of internal chamber (plug seated): 2.5625in (6.50875cm)
Grip back-sway past rail mount: 0.5in (1.27cm)

It weighs just a fraction of an ounce more than the Magpul AFG and contains a roomy compartment (I can easily fit a bore snake and 2x CR123 batteries). Grasping the grip on a whim offers a comfortable grip with 4 fingers on and thumb up, 3 fingers on/one in front and thumb up, or 4 fingers on with thumb behind. I prefer 4 fingers on with thumb up because I can easily reach my flashlight controls as well as absorb muzzle rise with my thumb. I never thought an AFG could impress me like this, but I am ordering another for my 10.5" AR pistol. This one was for the Extar EP9.
