Inexpensive combo which can mount on large frame pistol or rifle. Have already mounted and fired on AR with no problems. Remains to be seen re pistol recoil. 200 lumens is more than most lights of less than flashlight size. Lazar is also plenty bright for all but full daylight situations, or beyond fifty yards in daylight with naked eyes (but that is what red dots scopes are for) (still excellent at night to 100 - 150yds). Stock up on batteries because light will eat them. Once again it is not necessary to have top flight military gear to get 90% of the job done. Barska folks, I would recommend quick release built in vs adding additional weight of quick release rail mount on next generation (yes I know it will cost more, but a few bucks to this device will not put off most buyers in this range). BEST BUY- I have signif experience with the best NV avaliable in the world (British aviation Cats Eyes- 70K light ampl- true starlight capable, no moon necessary). I have other civilian NV. This is darn close to gen III+. I did not find any advertised, online, or provided documentation re light amplification, but I would estimate these to be 20-25K. Due diligence was done and I was not disappointed. You will not need any better than this, but get the big lens (max intake). The image is very good due to the number of LPs. Do not buy more expensive units as your ROI will be minimal. Any better vision will require supplimental IR lighting (and exposure yourself to anyone else with NV). Get your best bang for buck by getting these and if you need any better (or want to remain concealed)- go Thermal. Even though there is signif battery life- save it by turning it on briefly, then off. The capacitor charge lasts up to about two minutes before fading. You can scan field of fire during that time. Be sure to turn it back on again before you intend to engage a target.
NOTE- a fair number of people don't seem to realize that you must have some ambient light for NV to work. NV is worthless under cloud cover (Pacific NW, storms), under tree canopy, etc. If you use IR in these circumstances, you are compromised (even to boars/coyotes). If this matters to you tactically, or your hunt, I would just pungle up for thermal.
