I have reviewed this optic before on this thread and I bought another. Vortex is a solid brand with their solid VIP warranty-backed products. The etched reticle means you always have at least something should your battery fail. The reticle can be illuminated at variable brightness levels and both red and green are available to choose with the selector knob. You don't have to choose red or green before purchase because you're getting BOTH! Pick one or the other or neither for that matter. Looks fine paired with my Vortex 3x magnifier or not.
This ammo is rated at the lowest recommended weight and highest recommended fps for my 12GA semiauto bullpup. Ideal for break-in period when indoor range only allows slug ammo for shotguns.
The indoor range I'm using these at is 25 yards. Great for dialing in your optic if it's not red. I have mostly green circle dot and Vulcan reticles that really pop with these targets in the sights.
It's not impossible or terrible using red (I have one red circle dot that I use), but there's simply not as much bold contrast between the dot and target colors. Trick is to be set brighter than the background. Simple. You can make red dots happen on them, you just won't be dominating any speed drills. They do offer these in green, which I suggest for red dot optics.
Only nitpicky critique? It's eight bullseye targets. Eight. Why not five or ten?! Boxes of ammo are most typically not divisible by eight. It's like hot dogs come in packages of ten and buns are packages of eight. Takes five reps to make it come out even. No biggie, just an OCD eye-twitchy thing. Would I buy them again? Yes, IF nothing else does the job for equal or less cost with target quantities that come out even.
I got these because I mostly use green optics and they suit that purpose adequately.
Not ideal enough for 5 stars. They are good, but they could be better just on the numbers thing, which for most is not a deal-breaker.
4 stars is only because the quantity of bullseye targets on the paper doesn't come out even for ammo units of packaging. Make it five or ten. Eight comes out even how? Single shots per bullseye target out of a 1911 loaded with eight? Four 20-round boxes of AR ammo at ten per target?
Etched reticle is always there regardless of battery life. Pick red or green. They both light up as bright or dim as what you'll need. I already had a Vortex 3x side-flip magnifier so the pair give 1x/3x option and look great together
I scored a cheap Turkish pistol with a threaded barrel and made it a mission to make a complete build with compensator, light and optic all under the $299 price of the original firearm. I did it! Barely. This helped. I have plenty of complete name brand pistols with comps, optics and lights that did not have to meet this constraint. Wanna know my surprise? The cheap-o is the best shooter. Best groups. I'm dumbfounded as to why. This comp is on my most accurate shooter. It's on a Tisas PX9 SF Custom in space white with a Gideon Alpha red circle dot and an Olight PL Turbo Valkyrie light. I have chosen this setup for a contest in lieu of my SIG P365 X Macro comp with Holosun 507K green circle dot with TLR-7 sub 1913 and Tactical Development Pro Ledge or my Springfield Armory Echelon with Holosun 507C ACSS Vulcan and TLR-1 HL light. Neither of the latter have impressed me with the groups I get from what was bought to be my "fun gun" stormtrooper duty sized pistol.
The edition of Sport II I ended up with has a 1.5" gas block in lieu of an A2 front sight post. Underneath no bayonet lug, nor sling swivel. This drop-in hand guard setup is solid and accommodates for any and all of the above. I lovingly refer to this as the "poor man's floating rail". Anyone familiar with the Sport II knows the gas block gets hot... real hot! This product goes a long way towards "heat-sinking" what the gas block gives off. I waited long (too long) for the VISM version of this product, which I ordered in September and still didn't receive by late December. This one I had in less than a week. I held off on buying my Magpul M-Lok bipod due to the original delay, which I cancelled once I saw this competitor brand was in stock. This one arrived as soon as reasonably possible, and it went on my rig immediately and the bipod went on ASAP subsequently. Mounting was a breeze and all the tools and hardware are included. I've since been to the range with the bipod in use rather than my elbows. Verdict? I prefer it's not my elbows. In summation I should report there are plenty of off-brand AR's that come equipped with a floating rail... but some of us opted for something different for whatever reason. I got a S&W bundle deal because I knew of the modularity of the AR platform and things like this were out there. Things just like this. All things being fair, it's never gonna look like a Daniel Defense, nor will it ever be one. This is putting a performance part on a bas
