I dont know why but i really had high expectations for this castle nut and end plate combo. I imagined it looking like a nice billet piece with a a really cool sturdy ratcheting mechanism. In reality its a fairly good looking end cap with a cheap looking/feeling castle nut. The ratcheting mechanism is just a little post that is welded in there that groves on the side of the castle nut (like the side of a quarter) kinda rub along as you tighten it. There is some springiness to the post so it might help hold it in place. The castle nut is thin walled and i went back to milspec until I find a combo I like better. I know that I expected too much for the price but this could have been better.

These straps are tough and look great. For $13 why not add one to your next order to give your SB brace a little upgrade? Ive gotten one for each of my braces. (SBA3 and Maxim Defense CQB). They fit well and do stiffen it up a bit. Its a little tight getting it to tread through but not too hard. You will definitely see and feel the quality when you get the stock one off and have them side by side.

If you are hesitating because of the cost just buy them, you will not be disappointed. I finally bit the bullet and purchased them. I could not be happier with them. the fit and finish are perfect and they are tough. like has been said before the peep might be a little off to compensate for how much it moves when rotated in order to keep it in line but i cant tell by looking. i only wish i had bought them sooner. they are absolutely perfect. i wish Scalarworks would come out with even more great products. i did have to order the sights directly from Scalarworks because OP was backordered but they are the same price and shipping was free. be warned though i already want to buy a second set for another AR i have

Great Looking Handguard

This is a great handguard. The fit and finish are perfect. I dont know what the other review is talking about. yes, you do have to time the barrel nut but like he said, you have 35-80 foot pounds to work with. So I tightened it to that range, slid the handguard over it to see how the holes lined up and how the top rail set and then twisted the barrel nut a little one way or the other to get the holes to where they needed to be while staying within spec. A tiny bit more work than some other designs but you only have to do it once and its not going to move again if you dont want it to. I cant say enough about how good it looks. Im on here about to buy another for a different upper i have.

Even Nicer Than Expected

I first ordered a grey SBA4 for this build but decided that i wanted to go with an all black AR. Optics Planet was super easy to return that brace to. I had seen this while browsing OP and hadnt really thought about as an option due to the price but after reading the other reviews i decided to give it a chance. I am so happy that I did. The quality and the fitment of this is perfect. Now that is installed on my pistol i can not imagine going with anything else. It totally makes the look of the gun. I like how short it is when all the way closed and the length extended is perfect for me. I love how it feels when firing.
