Great macro and portrait lens

Review for
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens
This was the first lens I purchased after the kit lens for my Rebel XT. With this lens you are able to take ultra close up shots of small items. If you are interested in coins, small objects, Arrowheads, bugs, etc. The F/2.8 makes the photos very sharp, even though this is not an L Series lens. I have taken excellent portrait photos of people with this lens and it fits that role nicely as well. I've had this lens for over 8 years with zero issues. The Ultrasonic Motor in the lens is fast and quiet.

Awesome landscape lens
Written on Jul 03, 2017
I've been using the Canon L series 17-40mm lens for a few years now. Primarily purchased for Vacations to scenic landscapes. It is great for this. It can also be used in very crowded places where you can't "stand back" and take the photo. I always have this lens with me on holidays.

Great lens

Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM Lens
I use this lens often on my Canon 5D Mark II. Everything from Nature photography to Airshows and the latest I used it some during a wedding. You are able to stay out of the way and get the close up shots you want. The lens is fast to focus and plenty sharp. I recommend this lens to anyone wanting a higher zoom lens but isn't quite ready to jump into the $4,500+ price range. The lens is a little heavy but I have carried it all day through Mount Rushmore, Devil's Tower and Crazy Horse and it wasn't too heavy for that.

Best rings for CZ452 American
Written on Jul 03, 2017
Went through Rimfire Central looking for the correct rings for my CZ452 American.
The BKL Standard rings are perfect for the 452 American odd-ball (3/8") mount. Prior to these BKL Rings I tried the Factory CZ rings as well as a set of Leupold "High" Rings. The CZ and Leupold rings would not clamp "square" to the receiver....was not impressed since the CZ rings were $70ish and the Leupold rings weren't far behind that.
I am very impressed with the BKL rings. First off -- They are Made in TEXAS! Received the tip on this brand from RimfireCentral. $19.99 and the Standard height will fit a 40mm objective. I wouldn't suggest the BKL "Tall" rings unless you are wanting to put a 50mm scope on.
Installed a Vortex Crossfire II 4-12x40AO scope and boresighted.
The big issue with mounting a scope on the 452/455 is bolt-to-ocular end clearance. The BKL rings cleared the ocular end of this scope with ease.
I hope this post helps someone out who is wanting to mount a scope on their 452/455.

Good scope for .22LR
Written on Jul 03, 2017
Used one of these for a CZ452 American bolt action rifle. With a rimfire you want the adjustable Parallax and this scope has 10 yard to infinity. Has been a decent scope for the money. I was pricing the Vortex vs the Leupold Rimfire series and the Vortex won out. When getting a cheaper rifle scope (less than $250) you never know when it is going to mess up. With the No Fault Vortex warranty you have nothing to worry about.

Great for Sako AV

Leupold Sako Ring Mounts
Used these on my Sako AV. Really wanted the Gloss rings for the rifle so that they would match. Riflescope has held zero with these rings on a .416 rem mag. I am impressed, great product for the Sako rifles.

Left handed Nickel plate
Written on Jul 03, 2017
Purchased one of these for my .300 RUM Remington 700 CDL that is left handed. Installation was a piece of cake. I did have to adjust the floor plate release but that takes less than a second. Takes another 20 seconds with a Trigger pull gauge to get it where you want it. I set mine at 2.5lb.
The trigger itself is wide and has a much better feel to it then the original trigger. My rifle came with the XMark Pro trigger and I never even used it. But it was 5lb 10oz. Once Remington started sending out the recall on their triggers I ordered aftermarket.
Get yourself one. The best priced aftermarket trigger for the Rem 700.

Brighter than the VXIII and VX3 (past models)

Leupold VX-3i 2.5-8x36mm Riflescope
Purchased one of these for my .416 Rem Mag. Was pleasantly surprised that the zoom ring was easy to rotate. Good eye relief and a lot brighter than the VX-III and VX3 models from before. Not sure if the VX-3i got different glass or coatings but it seems brighter. Almost bright enough for me to sell my older models and upgrade.
I was able to mount this low and there is no low light loss that I can tell going from a 3-9x40 to this 2.5-8x36. Great rifle scope.

Best binoculars in this price range

Review for
Vortex Razor HD 8x42mm Roof Prism Binoculars
These are very close to Swarovski quality, and I would rate above Ziess or Leupold. Very bright and have tested at Dawn or Dusk. Am able to pick up fine details of grassy meadows or dark timber in the mountains in the middle of the day or at last shooting light. I was able to see almost 30 minutes later through these than my Leupold VX3 6.5-20x50 with 30mm tube riflescope...even with it set at 6.5x.
Very impressive pair of binoculars at a great price point. And Vortex has a no questions asked warranty so you can feel confident taking them into the field. mud, rocks, rain, shine if anything happens they will repair or replace them for you

Perfect match for the Marlin 1895G
Written on Mar 17, 2016
Mounted this scope on my Marlin .45/70 lever rifle and was amazed how bright and clear the scope is...even at sundown! 1-4x power is excellent for lever rifle situations. Mounts low to the action and did not have to remove factory sights. Will be ordering more scopes from OpticsPlanet soon. Fast Shipping and great customer service.
