Purchased one of these for my .416 Rem Mag. Was pleasantly surprised that the zoom ring was easy to rotate. Good eye relief and a lot brighter than the VX-III and VX3 models from before. Not sure if the VX-3i got different glass or coatings but it seems brighter. Almost bright enough for me to sell my older models and upgrade.
I was able to mount this low and there is no low light loss that I can tell going from a 3-9x40 to this 2.5-8x36. Great rifle scope.
