UPDATE Leatherwood CMR

Written on Oct 01, 2015

Just a quick update since I have had the scope for a few months now. I have the scope mounted on a Ruger SSR in 6.8mm REM SPC. The scope sighted in just fine with minimal rounds to get it on target after I pre-bore sighted it. It has held its zero through many rounds fired and quite a few hog hunting trips on my families land. I still am very enamored of the reticle. I cannot say enough good things about this well thought out sighting system. The tube is solid and is resistant to the bumps and scrapes that come with hunting here in the piney woods and close quarters of the forest land here. I have still not noticed any particulates in the scope and the reticle is highly visible in the day time without illumination and very visible during the late evening with the many illumination settings. I could not be happier with this scope.

Leatherwood/Hi-Lux CMR Exceptional Scope

Written on May 01, 2015

This was my first variable powered scope with a 30mm tube. The tube was larger than I expected and this is not a complaint. This scope is well put together and solid as a tank. The outer finish on the scope is an even matte black and well done. No marring or scratches once I removed it from the box. The windage and elevation dials have a slight bit of play to them but the adjustment 'clicks' are solid and audible. The illumination dial is solid and has a good bit of resistance to turning but I have no complaint there as it will not be adjusting all on its own. I purchased the accessory variable power adjustment lever and it went on very easily and with just a small bit of blue lock tight it is there to stay. It does help transition the scopes power from 1x to 4x smoothly. I would highly recommend purchasing this little part which is less than 20 dollars here on Optics Planet. The glass on this scope is immaculate!! Very clear and the 30mm tube collects light excellently. I have none of the particulates some have stated that their scopes have been plagued with. I rather like the etched glass and the ability to use the scope should battery power fail. The black, etched reticle shows up just fine in the day light. I also do not expect to see a lighted reticle in full sun light. Save your battery in sun light and illuminate in low light/indoor situations. Speaking of the illumination it shows up a brilliant green in low light and not until the very highest setting do I
