Craig Holt's Review of Hi-Lux Optics CMR Series 1-4x24 Rifle Scope

This was my first variable powered scope with a 30mm tube. The tube was larger than I expected and this is not a complaint. This scope is well put together and solid as a tank. The outer finish on the scope is an even matte black and well done. No marring or scratches once I removed it from the box. The windage and elevation dials have a slight bit of play to them but the adjustment 'clicks' are solid and audible. The illumination dial is solid and has a good bit of resistance to turning but I have no complaint there as it will not be adjusting all on its own. I purchased the accessory variable power adjustment lever and it went on very easily and with just a small bit of blue lock tight it is there to stay. It does help transition the scopes power from 1x to 4x smoothly. I would highly recommend purchasing this little part which is less than 20 dollars here on Optics Planet. The glass on this scope is immaculate!! Very clear and the 30mm tube collects light excellently. I have none of the particulates some have stated that their scopes have been plagued with. I rather like the etched glass and the ability to use the scope should battery power fail. The black, etched reticle shows up just fine in the day light. I also do not expect to see a lighted reticle in full sun light. Save your battery in sun light and illuminate in low light/indoor situations. Speaking of the illumination it shows up a brilliant green in low light and not until the very highest setting do I experience any 'fuzzing' and this still isn't enough to render the setting useless. I researched scopes in the 1-4X range for several months before deciding upon this scope. My decision was based largely on the well thought out reticle, the youtube reviews by sootch00 and the very reasonable price offered here at Optics Planet. After opening the box and examining the scope I would have expected to pay several hundred for a scope with this much to offer. Optics Planet, as I said, offered this scope at a wonderful price for everything you get and their shipping was spot on. I received email updates whenever a status change occurred in the shipping and I had the scope here in my hands within three days of the order being processed. Good job Optics Planet and thanks for offering a great product that functions perfectly and doesn't break that bank account!
