I already purchased another Chassis system for my Howa Mini 1500 - this one was poorly made
Written on Apr 23, 2026
At first I liked it. Lightweight and solid.
2 months of normal use. Took it hunting a few times, when to the range a few times to make sure it was dialed in.
The grip started to feel loose. So I tighten it.
A week later. Grip started to feel loose again.
I took it off and realized that the threading of the grip into a small thin metal sleeve that's glued/inserted into plastic of the chassis - NOT into the metal part.
This is a huge weak point - that metal sleeve will eventually slip out with any amount of tightening or normal use.
I JB welded it, Put some loctite on it - still just never felt solid enough, and I couldn't trust it after seeing how weak it was.
I ended up spending 4x more on a better chassis - I wish I had done this from the beginning.
If anyone is reading this is looking at this Chassis as the lower budget option... you might want to just bite the bullet and go with the one you actually want instead of this one.

Long time shooter, both long range precision and pistol.
Got this for my .300 blk howa 1500 mini build. Love the way it turned out.
Put a decent scope on this, whole package (without suppressor) was around 9.5 lbs, feels lightweight and rigid. Grip that came on it was fine but I wanted something with more aggressive texture. Had plenty of AR grips around to choose from.
Performance was great. Was hitting nice tight groups, action was smooth everything cycling perfect. Comfortable to shoot.
I have a few other projects that I will definitely buy this chassis for. Really good price for the quality.

Great Scope - however its hard to stomach the price for the extremely basic features.

Pros
- clear glass, great light/brightness
- reticle is crisp with sharp and thin lines that do not cover up target
- eye relief is great fit for most rifles
- lightweight and compact (perfect for small rifles)
Cons
- very expensive for a basic scope - no additional magnification settings other than 4x.
- does not come with rings/mounts
- price tag is for the brand name, not the scope technology used or additional features. A no name brand 4x scope is probably 1/10 the price.
Additional comments - Shipping from optics planet is just horrible. This took over 2 weeks to be delivered.

Good. Not Fantastic

Maybe I'm really picky about scopes, maybe I've just owned enough to be able to quickly identify good ones vs bad.
This one is GOOD for the price. Is it mind blowing or remarkable value for the price? Nah.
Is it as good as the Vortex Viper ( which is considerably more expensive). No, its not. The Viper has MUCH clearer glass and even though the MRAD reticle is nearly identical - the crosshairs on the Diamond back are nearly impossible to see on a dark target - I've never had that problem with my Vortex VIPER.
My negatives for this scope are that the glass is darker then I expected, eye relief is noticeably different between 6x and 18x zoom (not good), reticle is horrible for dark targets. I got this for my hunting rifle and I'm not really thrilled with it.
If you are shooting at white targets or a polar bear( JOKE!) . You'll probably be fine. I shoot at splatter shot black targets so I can see impacts at 400+ yards. However with this scope I find myself very annoyed with how dark and difficult the crosshairs are to see, I have perfect vision and have never had this issue with any other scopes I own (probably around 20 from mostly high end brands).
You could do a lot worse, you could spend more money and do better. You decide.

For under $25 this is the best cover for the money you could get.

For around $25 bucks - buy it.
For more than double that - look elsewhere there are better options.
I got this when it was $17 dollars and I would have purchased 4 more for my other cans.
However after the price more than doubled I found better options.
I now have a silicon type rubber covers on 3 of my cans and they work fantastic and are way thinner and less bulky than these types. They also do not smoke at all.

I have a few of these - they are great for most rifles.

These mounts are great for most AR platforms, they are a great height for a nice cheek weld and quick target acquisition. However, if you are putting it on a hunting rifle you might want to consider regular mounting rings. This mount is solid and well built - but its also heavier. If you are trying to cut weight of your hunting rifle, then this would not be my top choice. For an AR - it is a fantastic choice.

Disregard the poor reviews - this is rock solid

I've tried dozens of charging handles in my AR15 and AR10 builds. I have zero issues with the Warhammer ones I own. They are built with great quality and have preformed flawlessly without any breaks or issues for thousands of rounds.

These are great option for around $20!

This cover works well on VERY hot cans. I've gotten this thing close to melting after a few mag dumps - but it did not catch on fire.
I would not recommend going through more than 60 rounds at a quick speed, but for just plinking and a day at the range shooting at a normal slow pace it holds up perfectly fine.
I knocked off one start due to the large price increase - at around $20 this was a great purchase. I wanted to buy another - but not after its doubled in price. At this new price there are better options.

Sig Tango is nowhere near as good as the Vortex Strike Eagle. Disappointed in glass and clarity.

I have both now, regrettably. This Sig Tango LPVO and a Vortex Strike Eagle.
I thought I'd save some money by getting the Sig Tango because it comes with the mount... stupid move.
The Sig Tango LPVO is real garbage in comparison to the Vortex and I'm usually not too harsh or critical. The eye relief is weird - it feels like I'm looking down a paper towel tube. Its super annoying to have to work to find a sweet spot for eye relief - when this is supposed to be for quick target acquisition. There should be no reason to purchase this optic over the Vortex Strike Eagle - there is not a single feature that is better.
For some reason I thought the Sig was more compact and lighter than the Vortex - and it is not at all. Its actually bigger and almost the exact same weight. The glass and clarity is awful. I first unboxed this in my living room thinking I had the light dimmer on - and it was just the scope being dark and not clear. The vortex in the same room- bright and crisp.
I'm disappointed in almost every single aspect of this purchase.

Good for the money.

For the money - I'm a happy camper and 99% of people would be if this is your first step in the thermal world.
I was able to spot and identify an opossum climbing a tree from around 80 yards away on the first night. For general purposes - yes this is a great buy and will be very useful in hunting. Especially squirrel or well camouflaged animals.
Do I want way more - yes absolutely - but now I understand that will come with a much higher price tag. But For this price tag -The Taipan is hard to beat.
