Charlie's Review of Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50mm 30mm Tube First Focal Plane Rifle Scope
Maybe I'm really picky about scopes, maybe I've just owned enough to be able to quickly identify good ones vs bad.
This one is GOOD for the price. Is it mind blowing or remarkable value for the price? Nah.
Is it as good as the Vortex Viper ( which is considerably more expensive). No, its not. The Viper has MUCH clearer glass and even though the MRAD reticle is nearly identical - the crosshairs on the Diamond back are nearly impossible to see on a dark target - I've never had that problem with my Vortex VIPER.
My negatives for this scope are that the glass is darker then I expected, eye relief is noticeably different between 6x and 18x zoom (not good), reticle is horrible for dark targets. I got this for my hunting rifle and I'm not really thrilled with it.
If you are shooting at white targets or a polar bear( JOKE!) . You'll probably be fine. I shoot at splatter shot black targets so I can see impacts at 400+ yards. However with this scope I find myself very annoyed with how dark and difficult the crosshairs are to see, I have perfect vision and have never had this issue with any other scopes I own (probably around 20 from mostly high end brands).
You could do a lot worse, you could spend more money and do better. You decide.
