Runs rings around 3-dot tritium sights!

Written on Nov 15, 2015

A bunch of details make these sights the best choice for any fighting pistol. First, the figure-8 sight picture works for my eyes so much better than 3-dot sights. In extremely low-light, my eyes have a tough time determining if my sights are actually lined up or skewed with 3-dot sights. But I have no such problems with this set-up. Second, the orange outline of the front sight is really attractive for the eye in full light. So many night sights are no better than tiny dots in full sun, but these sights are just as effective in full light as in low-light. Third, the rear sight design is really great for one-handed slide manipulation on your belt! I would prefer, though, for the rear sight trough be squared off instead of rounded, but nothing is perfect.

High quality, but doesn't work for me

Written on Nov 15, 2015

I'll let the other reviews tell you how great the quality of this belt really is. For my use, however, I found that I cannot use this belt. The end of the belt, as it returns back along the hook and loop, makes the already thick belt double the thickness. This forced me to keep my holster a little farther back toward 4-o'clock, where I really prefer 3-o'clock. I also like to run a horizontal magholder strong side, just above my right pocket, exactly at the spot where this holster was double thickness. That kept me from placing my magholder in that spot. Thus, even though the belt is GREAT for what it is designed to do, my choice of gear placement just didn't work with this awesome belt.

Slimmer than stock

Written on Jul 08, 2015

My Buck Mark Hunter 7" has smooth cocobolo grips with thumb rests on both sides. They just felt humungous! I was looking for some slimline grips and couldn't find any that were called "slimline," but these fit the bill perfectly. The checkering, combined with the thinness of the front-most portion of the grips, make these feel significantly less bulky than the stock grips. I believe the widest point of the grips are about the same thickness as my stock grips, but they are thinner in all the right spots to make these so much more useful for my medium-sized hands. The lack of thumb rests was no loss in my mind. I loved my shooting experience with these grips installed!

Can view some iron sights through recess

Written on Jul 08, 2015

It turns out this sight has a pretty large recess through the middle. My purpose was to raise up a Bushnell TRS-25 on a 10/22 so I could still use the iron sights. However, for my needs, the sights were still a bit TOO low and I couldn't see the sights over the two cross bolts. It just didn't work out for me, but the quality of this riser is amazing!
