Boyds thumbhole stock for Weatherby long action
Written on Jul 06, 2024
My weatherby .270 fit perfectly. The recoil pad is useless for anything above a 6.5 Creedmore. Cut half inch off stock and added a Limbsaver pad. If you pillar bed like I do, be very careful if you enlarge rear action screw hole as there is not much wood in that location. New stock is a nice fit and feels great in the hands. THIS FREE FLOATS YOUR wEATHERBY SO YOU WILL NEED TO SIGHT IN YOUR SCOPE AGAIN. DO NOT BE SURPRISED THAT YOUR RIFLE LIKES DIFFERENT AMMO THAN BEFORE. Mine hated Hornady PH before, but prefers it over all others now. I recommend this stock if you are handy with tools for recoil pad change. You will save around 100 dollars compared to buying from Boyds.

Hawkwe 4-12 Vantage hunting scope
Written on Jun 23, 2024
This is not my first Hawke Vantage scope. These scopes are excellent for eastern hunting. They provide decent glass and quick target acquisition. Would not recommend for areas that offer over 400 yard shots as the paralax is not adjustable and is set for around 100 yards. They are illuminated for those low light shots when most deer seem to appear. For the price they are a very good value. 12 power, illuminated, and decent glass that has never fogged up on me for under 300 dollars,( i paid 202 from opticsplanet on sale) is hard to beat. An adjustable paralax would be the only change I would make.
