The front lens comes angled/canted/tilted at the specific angle needed to refract & project back red light emitted from the L.E.D. to your eye. The front lens is engineered to sit at that angle and it works incredibly well. You just don't notice it on some other micro red sights because because they're angled/canted/tilted their front lenses top back. All Micro RDSs front lenses are tilted on purpose, one way or another. ☆2☆
Anywho, I have 2 of these and they're 2 of the best sights that I have and absolutely top tier performance at a budget price (guess who makes the ROMEO 05?)! I have have been putting them through their paces on 9mm semi-auto Submachineguns & rifles chambered in 5.56, 300blk & 6.5mmG. Never had a problem or malfunction. The "SHAKE AWAKE" (MOTAC), motion activation & auto shutoff work flawlessly and it will definitely come on when you need it to be. I trust my life with this optic for home defense. The glass is very clear & the coating is top notch. The reticle settings are perfect. The reticle is super clean & crisp and more than bright enough for sunny Arizona desert days. The forged aluminum housing is definitely tough and the risers/mounts are tough too. I run one with a Daniel Defense 1/3 cowitness riser mount that is obviously built like a tank and the other one with the stock mount. They have both seen the same abuse and the stock mount has kept up for OVER 3 YEAR
This isn't gonna perform like a $1,000 NV optic but it gives you 50% of the performance for %10 of the price. If you don't own an night vision equipment and want something affordable that actually works, then this is for you. It isn't necessarily tactical but if you were to put a IR laser on your pistol and hold this up with your off hand, you could effectively defend your home in the dark against intruders that are not equipped with any NV. If they do, then you're probably done but you cannot expect to compete with professional equipped for $100 buck + IR laser. I see some negative reviews from people with less than realistic expectations. They are the same people that expect Snap-on performance from Harbor Freight. This is absolutely awesome for an entry level NV monocular!
