Not bad, but rear sight doesn't sit flush on slide...

Written on Feb 08, 2024

I purchased these sights for my G43X MOS. The sights are about as good as any tritium sights on the market. The rear sight does not sit flush on slide. There's about a 0.02" gap (used leaf feeler gauge for measurement) between the rear sight and the slide. The rear sight sits level, but the gap between the back of the rear sight and the slide isn't good.

Good overall value, but a couple of drawbacks...

Written on Feb 08, 2024

I purchased this optic for my G43X MOS. The optic did need to be zero'd a bit, but not too much.

There are only two drawbacks that keep this from being a perfect 5:
1) The buttons don't always respond to being pressed.
2) The lockout feature is a little counter-intuitive. When the optic is locked out, you can't manually turn off the optic. You have to unlock the optic in order to manually turn it off. It would have been nice if the optic locked out changing other settings while still allowing it to be manually turned off.

Very high quality, sits on G43X MOS very snug...

Written on Feb 08, 2024

I purchased this for use on my G43X MOS. The adapter plate is designed and machined very accurately. The plate sits in the MOS cutout perfectly with no noticeable wiggle room. I mounted my Holosun 507K onto the plate and installed the screws. The optic sits level and there are no gaps between the optic and the adapter plate.

Looks great, but that safety lever has uncomfortable edges...

Written on Jan 31, 2024

Everything about this trigger is great except for one small detail.

The safety lever edges are uncomfortable and feel sharp. It doesn't cut my finger, but after 100 rounds my finger was very red. The problem can be fixed by carefully rounding the edges just a bit, but if you pay for a product you shouldn't have to do that. If Tyrant rounds the edges of the safety lever just a tad, then this product would be a definite 4-stars.

Become useless after 6 months!

Written on Jan 24, 2024

When I first bought them they worked ok. It did reduce shot noise but wind was amplified. The problem is at the 6 month mark, the right ear bud (that controls on/off) would always lose charge. The problem is the ear buds have to sit just right in the case in order to stay charged. If you bump the case, there's a good chance the right ear bud loses contact with the charging contacts in the case. Since the right ear bud has gone dead so many times it won't keep a charge longer than 5 minutes now.

Great chassis with one huge flaw...

Written on Jun 21, 2023

The chassis overall is well built. There is a flaw in its design however. The fixed stock prevents you from being able to use a bore guide and in some cases you can't remove the bolt without removing the stock. The same chassis with the folding stock is what you want for bolt action. I ended up buying the hinge for the stock so it can be folded. No more issues with cleaning/servicing my rifle--I only have to fold the stock over to work on it now.

Saturated in oil, missing hook for rear bag, front cradle loose despite how much I tighten the screw

Written on Apr 12, 2023

I received my order and immediately noticed a small wet spot on the shipping box. Smelled it and ran my finger across it. It was oil. I opened the box and the actual product packaging was soggy from oil. Luckily the bags were in plastic so they did not get covered in oil, but the rest of the parts looked like they just came out of a machine shop. I cleaned everything off and assembled the front rest. The front cradle is loose no matter how much I tighten the screw the holds it onto the ram. I took the screw out, examined it, checked to see if it was tapped deep enough and it all looked fine. I put the cradle back on and ran into the same issue. Finally, the rear bag in the product picture and the product packaging shows that it is supposed to include a hook. I searched everywhere, but there was no hook included. It's not a show-stopper, but given the condition of the product when received, the loose front cradle problem, and the missing rear hook, I'm really shocked. This product is not the top-of-the-line nor is it expensive, but if this is what customers can expect, I won't be purchasing anything by Caldwell again--especially since it turns out everything in the box is MADE IN CHINA.

Too heavy to stick on ALL rifles/pistols (won't stick to 22LR stainless barrel)...

Written on Oct 20, 2022

Went back and forth with Sightmark. Sightmark advertises the product as working with all rifles/pistols. My 22LR has a stainless barrel. Other magnets stick just fine, but the magnets they use in this one are very weak and therefore will not work on ALL rifles/pistols as advertised. Sightmark support is terrible and I wasn't even sure at first I was talking to a person in the USA. They tried to explain to me how my gun is designed assuming I didn't know my faux suppressor had to be removed. After wasting my time with that response, I explained how the product falls off when the faux suppressor isn't installed. They then tried to explain that my barrel is non-ferrous stainless steel (pretty sure that doesn't exist, all steel contains iron to some degree). Regardless, I sent them a photo of neodymium magnets sticking with no issues even though they said those types of magnets don't work on stainless steel. There are other issues with this product. The arbor that sits in the barrel sits differently depending on the crown or rifling it makes contact with, producing a 2" MOA depending on how the boresight is rotated, so there is no way to know where the product should sit properly for a good sight.

Functional, but has its flaws...

Written on Nov 24, 2021

First the good details:
The adjustment buckles are very secure. They don't move at all if you pull on them; this resistance is good to ensure nothing comes loose. The design of the QD system to use it as a single or dual point sling is very convenient. The sling material is very strong and rugged. I can see this sling resisting years of hard abuse with no damage.

Now the not-so-impressive details:
The quick adjust is flaky at best. It does not take much for the quick adjust to slip. In the field, this means you can have it suddenly let out the slack and cause the position of your gun to change at the wrong times. There's no easy fix for this issue. I called Magpul and they said the only option is to exchange it. I tried that. The replacement I got had the exact same issue. The only real work-around is to cinch the straps so there is no slack, which defeats the purpose of having the quick adjust. The QD connections are also not reliable. There are times when the QD connectors disconnect with minimal force. My gun fell and hit the ground muzzle-first twice when walking. Luckily I still had my hand on the receiver so it didn't hit the ground too hard. It might have been the connection points on the gun, so I tried two other rifles. The problem did not go away.
