Not a bad budget range finder

Written on Dec 28, 2018

I bought this a couple years ago and have been using it mostly for varmint hunting and pesting with my small caliber rifles during light hours. For that is it great. This year I took it out hunting during deer and elk seasons. In low light conditions it can be very difficult to see through and range accurately. both the optic and the LCD reticle are dark and couple that with a dark background and it is even harder to see/range. It found myself ranging certain waypoints in better light ahead of time to increase odds of success. It does range accurately however. This was consistently with a yard of my buddy's. $500+ Liecia 1000yrd range finder. 9v battery is cheap and convenient, and lasts a good while. Also, Seems pretty durable/weather resistant as we were in several coastal rain storms and wet conditions and it functioned consistently. Overall, not a bad unit. I am now shopping for something that has a Red illuminated reticle, 6x magnification, angle compensation, adjustable diopter for my big game hunts. Features that put you in the $300+ price range, but worth it. This will still be in my varmint/pest range bag as it is perfect that.

Pretty good. Low light not so good.

used these on a 3 week elk hunt on the coast range. For a budget bino (sub $200) they aren't bad. There a probably better options out there. My main gripes were they are terrible in low light. pretty much had to wait for the sun to come up before you could see anything, which for the coast range elk is pretty much a fail. (the animals are nearly back in the woods by that time).Evening time was the same. I had better luck looing through my $200 Bushnell scope with a 44mm objective. the rogues don't have exactly the clearest glass. they fogged on a few occasion at the worst of times. it's the coast tho so it's hard for anything not to fog. Also, the focus wheel had a fair amount of play in it making focusing tedious at times. Also, plenty of eye strain at the end of the day and I have 20/20 vision. I guess these are all things that are expected at this price point. overall I feel like you may be able to find better binos for the money with some research. Yes they are Leupolds, but don't expect magic from them. they are the Lowest end of Leopold price point. you may be paying more for the name and warranty than the actual glass with these..?
