Great product although not wild about lack of a knob to tighten

Written on Feb 15, 2018

Bought this as a 2nd unit for wife. We shoot in a rifle competition league 2x a month. These are tactical action shooting matches, and they run lights out stages from time to time.

The TLR-1 HL puts out a great beam and judging from the first one I've had for a year and a half they are reliable. Ergonomics are fine on the controls too. I don't really care for the earless knob though, as compared to the knurled knob on my older unit. I can see the advantage of having less to snag, but it isn't anywhere near as quick to mount and take off as the older version with the real knob.

Great optic and excellent value

Written on Jan 25, 2018

Have two of the Sig Romeo 5 red dots. Use them primarily for competition shooting. One is on my 9mm Pistol Caliber Carbine, and the second one is on my wife's AR15. Both Romeo 5 units are used for competition every other week plus practice sessions. We don't turn them off in between sessions and the auto power down/ power up works as it is supposed to. The dots are uniform and the zero doesn't shift. I decided to change the batteries every year, and have just done so. Mine had been in service for just over a year, and my wife's about 6 months. I also have an Aimpoint on my own AR for comparison. The Aimpoint may be more rugged, but we don't beat these weapons so that is probably a moot advantage. If one were riding in a patrol car the Aimpoint would deliver better battery life but that isn't our use for the competition rifles. The dot isn't any better on the Aimpoint. For 1/3 or less money than an Aimpoint, the Sig Romeo 5 is a better value for our uses, and I plan to purchase another Romeo 5 in the near future.

Great sight set for co-witness with optic

Written on Nov 01, 2017

Bought a pair of the Trijicon Suppressor High Sights2 to co-witness with Trijicon 6.5 MOA RMR adjustable LEDs on an H&K VP9 for my wife. Had the slide milled to co-witness. Whole setup is great. These suppressor high sights were recommended by the company that did the milling to mount the optic

Great optic for slide mount

Written on Nov 01, 2017

Bought one of the type 2 Trijicon 6.5 MOA RMR adjustable LEDs for setting up an H&K VP9 for my wife. Had the slide milled to co-witness with Trijicon Suppressor High Sights. Whole setup is great. Hated to pay so much money for the optic, but for that pistol the Trijicon RMR is really the best option if one wants a co-witness sight set up.
