Great device. Use it pretty much every day

Written on Dec 13, 2025

I love this device and use it just about every day. Have the 18x version. There is a mesa out my back door where a half dozen deer wander around. Very easy to track them 2500 yards away without any tripod or other support. Nice clear and sharp images.

Some observations. I have a very wide interpupillary distance making most binos unusable. This one, while maxed out, is workable for me. I ware glasses and they do work with them but I prefer to remove them when viewing for any amount of time. The eye cups extend out with a twist. I can then use the old trick of pushing the eye cups to the top of the eye socket where the bones make holding it more stable. Works great.

While it is easy to glass with this without support, anything will get heavy eventually. Bracing on a door, tree, fence, etc., helps remove the fatigue of holding them up for long periods of time. Note that this does NOT have a tripod mount. That is a separate part that wraps about it and costs $50. Have one on order so I can't comment on that yet. The focus knob is nice and wide and easy to run with gloves. The battery holders are located on each side of the base and a bit lower and fit well within your thumbs. The stabilization also allows for easy one handed operation, something that I really never did with my old set.

Speaking of batteries, I like the fact that they use easily obtainable AA batteries. I've used it well over a month and still on the first set so I don't know how long they l

Fantastic scope but unreliable

Written on Sep 21, 2021

I used this for target shooting. The capabilities and features were fantastic. Having image, video, built-in ballistics computer are great. 1000 yard shots are almost too easy. However, I'm now on my 4th scope in a year. ATN has been great about replacing it but I just can't find one that keeps working. The failure mode is that it will first start to lose the ability to hold the zero. Then some of the other sensors will begin to give wild reading (compass, temp sensors, etc.) This causes the ballistics computer to give incorrect shooting solutions. Then the scope will power on to the point where you can see the video image but the main control software won't start. Then it will eventually just give a white screen. This has happened enough that I wrote a letter to ATN. Was told it was my fault and too bad, no refunds. Its not like I was abusing it. My 6.5 Creedmoor RPR really doesn't have much recoil. The gun and scope were protected in a foam based hard case when not in use. No reason why it should fail.

If you are hunting with this, it is probably perfect for you given the limited shot count. However, if you are target shooting with this and your round count goes up, beware. (Note: the last one started to fail after only about 100 rounds)

It's depressing but I've had to replace this with a glass scope. I really miss the features on this but simply can't deal with it breaking all the time.
