Best Tool I've found for Ogive to Base measuring

Written on Sep 21, 2016

This is a super easy way to measure ogive to base for any given cartridge/bullet combination in your rifle. Give you a precise starting place to work up "distance off the lands" loads in your rifle. I tried the Sinclair tool first, but found it compounds error because you involve the overall length in your calculation. Bullets are not precisely the same in respect to both ogive and bullet overall length. It's best just to deal with one factor and this Hornady tool does just that. Ogive to base. The best measurement to work with. You will also need the bullet comparator tool to work with this Total Length Gauge.

Lyman BoreCam is a HIGH value firearm accessory

Written on Aug 28, 2016

I have wanted a Gradient HawkEye borescope for a long time but could never bring myself to put forward the money required to purchase one of these. Along comes this Lyman BoreCam. Other reviews were good so I put down 2 bills for this. Best money I've spent on firearm accessories EVER. With this tool you can KNOW what is going on in your barrel. And the first thing you will say is something like, "I just THOUGHT I knew what was going on in my gun bores". They can look bright and shiny and clean when looking at the light through the muzzle or breech. Get one of these and you will really KNOW if they are clean or not, pitted or not, or if the throat is crazed or not, and if the crown is nicked or smeared or not. Ten Star Rating.
