VG6 Epsilon 5.56

Written on Nov 12, 2017

This was ridiculously easy to install, and comes with a new crush washer. Whether or not this device actually reduces recoil is hard for me to determine, but it looks better than the factory birdcage. I didn't notice too much additional sound or flash after the install, either. Decent price for the quality you get. Would buy again.

Bladetech AR15 Mag Pouch

Written on May 18, 2017

Another quality product from Bladetech. I like the adjustable tension of the pouch itself; allowing the user to choose how much or little tension it requires to pull out the mag. This particular model also came with the Bladetech Tek-Lok for easy mounting to my belt, as well as variable mounting (horizontal or vertical). Great fit and finish, and would definitely purchase again.

GG&G Follower

Written on May 18, 2017

I purchased this for my Mossberg 930 JM Pro. Perfect fit and finish, and incredibly easy to install. Simply remove the magazine tube extension, pull out the spring and factory follower, drop in the GG&G unit, and put everything back together. It took me about 5 minutes total. The factory follower has a pointed tip, while this model is cupped. It doesn't bind anywhere in the magazine tube, and the red color is easily visible for the range snobs who will be checking your weapon. I would definitely purchase again.

BCM Charging Handle

Written on May 18, 2017

I purchased this for my M&P15. The price was awesome when compared to other units on the market. As much as I wanted the ambidextrous model, I couldn't justify spending almost double the price for the ability to charge the rifle on either side. I bought the "large" model, and couldn't be happier with the equipment. It allows for a full blading of the charging handle, and does not cant the angle like some other pieces out there which only modify the factory handle. Perfect fit and finish, and would definitely buy again.

Peacekeeper Case

Written on May 18, 2017

I bought this to hold my M&P15 and Mossberg 930 JM Pro 24". Both weapons fit perfectly inside the case, with no protrusions. The inner Velcro which secures the weapons holds up just fine, and prevents them from moving around in the case. The outer pockets are a nice touch, although probably not enough for the full complement of equipment I bring to the range. Once you load ammo boxes, ear/eye pro, slings, optics, batteries, etc., the bag quickly runs out of room. The included neoprene pistol sleeve is a nice addition, and fits my M&P 9mm VTAC nicely. I wouldn't classify this as the only bag you will need, but it does the job of holding the weapons nicely. The stitching is top notch, and the zippers work great. Hopefully it will last throughout the years as a quality bag. Significantly lower price than some of its competitors, and the quality is more than fair. The only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is that it doesn't come with the factory backpack straps like other range bags do.

YHM Gas Block

Written on May 18, 2017

I bought this for my M&P15 to replace the factory block, in conjunction with the Leaper's UTG free float hand guard. They both worked well with each other, and the fit of the YHM block was perfect for the factory milspec barrel. Installation was simple, and the pinch screw mounting was very easy to use. I re-used the factory rollpin, albeit with some "gentle" massaging with a mallet. The mounting hole for the pin was a little tight, and required a little more force than I would've liked, but it still managed to fit. It's definitely more aesthetically pleasing than the factory block, and you can't beat the price. I went with this model for my first AR build, rather than the adjustable gas block, but might consider the latter once I replace my BCG down the road. Great quality piece, and would definitely buy again.

Magpul BEV Block

Written on May 18, 2017

Overall, this block is supposed to serve as both an upper and lower receiver armorer's tool. There are two things about this piece of equipment which I found to be less than desirable. First, when positioned in the upper receiver, there is still a lot of wiggle when placed in a bench vise. The upper portion of the block is metal, and mates nicely to the rifle, but still allows the receiver to dip forward. Even with the recommendation to mount the BCG to the rear of the BEV block, it still was not a perfect fit in comparison with some of the other clamp-type blocks out there. Second, the mounting pin did not go all the way through the upper receiver and the block itself. Not a game-ending fault by any means, but I expected more from a Magpul product, especially considering the price. I can't say this is better than some of the other options available, but it is nice it is both an upper an lower receiver tool. The fit could definitely be improved upon, as I was worried I could have warped my upper when removing/installing a free-float handguard.

UTG Slim Handguard

Written on May 13, 2017

For being on the cheaper end of the scale in comparison with other hand guards, this UTG model is phenomenal. The fit and finish are incredible, and it comes with everything you need to install. The proprietary nut was easy to fit, and made mating the hand guard simple. It all lined up perfectly with my S&W M&P15 flat top upper. I combined this product with the YHM low profile gas block (re-used the factory gas tube) with pinch screw mounting, and it worked like a champ. The FDE color was a shade or two off from the Magpul furniture I have installed, but that's okay. I've always been more function over form. The feel of the guard is smooth, and much lighter than some of the other quad-rail systems I'm accustomed to. There were videos available for the install on YouTube, which made the instructions a little more clear. The only down side is the proprietary rail mounting systems. It's not MLOK or KeyMod, so you have to get your rail attachments from UTG. It comes with three rail sections, about two to three inches in length each. That should be more than enough to mount your accessories, unless you like having 14 flashlights and 5 IR strobes on your rifle. I used to sections: one for a Magpul AFG, and the second for a quick-detach bipod. Overall, great product, and would definitely buy again.

Accu-Wedge

Written on May 13, 2017

I installed this, or tried to, in my S&W M&P15. The base of the wedge was so thick, the rear retaining pin would not even start to feed through the hole. After shaving down the base, the canted angle of the back of the wedge was so inconsistent with the locking block of the upper receiver, that it was smashing the wedge into the lower receiver. I cut down the back of the wedge, and still no luck getting the upper and lower to mate correctly. I shaved a piece about 1-2mm thick off the base, jammed hat in the lower, and it worked better than the actual wedge itself. I've installed these in other mil spec rifles before and have never had any issues. Perhaps it is because they were military issue and had thousands of rounds through them, rather than a BNIB AR15. Either way, I was extremely disappointed for a piece of equipment so simple to have so many problems. Good thing it was only a couple of bucks!

Magpul CTR Stock

Written on May 13, 2017

I bought this for my Smith and Wesson M&P15. The fit and finish are perfect. The FDE color is consistent with other Magpul products. The tension lock works well to take out the extra slop that most other stocks I've tried have. Great product.
