More than a little small...

Written on Jan 21, 2021

If you're 5 years old, or an extremely small-headed person, you'll be fine. 6 7/8 is a TINY hat.

The net is nice, the hat is well enough made, just made for very, very little people.

The brim was curled Aussie-style because it was shipped in a roll, which I actually rather liked. The net is removable (as many know) and easy enough to transfer to a hat that fits.

Really digging this scope

Written on Sep 05, 2020

Clear glass, good set of features usually reserved for much more expensive scope. Recommend for the budget-conscious.

No caps are included, but for those wondering the Butler Creek flip caps that fit it are:

Objective: #40 OBJ (57.2mm)
Eyepiece: #18 EYE (43.2mm)

I like it!

Written on Sep 02, 2020

It's a sturdy stock that doesn't add a lot of weight. It's comfortable for those who like their ARs with rifle-length stocks like I do. I can't tuck up with standard stocks because it bends my trigger wrist too far, but this length is about 2.5" longer and that makes all the difference. I can come right up into my irons now and it's all good, baby.

I haven't bashed any doors down with it yet, but one day I'll get it out for tac training and see if I can find a doorknob to snap off with it.

I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because I have a binary trigger that only comes with standard length recoil springs, which meant I had to make my own spacer to bring the internal length back down to the standard. It's not hard to do, but if ACE made a spacer for this purpose it would make things a whole lot easier. For those without that problem, a standard rifle buffer and spring will work just fine.

For the record if anyone else has the same issue: the spacer should be 7/8" round x 2.5" long and one end should have a wear plate on it for the spring to ride against. Mine is 1/8" aluminum screwed to the end of a wooden dowel, but if you've got 7/8" aluminum rod, make it 2.5" long and you should be good to just drop it in.

Great light, sturdy, but programmability is a misnomer.

Written on Feb 29, 2020

The light is great, the mount is great, and none of this will ever rattle off the rail. The 1000 lumen strobe is disorienting down range, the high mode reaches far and the low setting works like a standard flashlight. All this is exactly as it should be and I couldn't be happier with it.

But the programmability of the unit is not like you think it is. What it really is, is 3 different preprogrammed settings that dictate what functions are activated when you tap, tap + hold, and double-tap+hold the thumb bar. None of the preprogrammed settings allow for all three functions to be used in the same setup.

What I would much prefer to have seen is a 3-zone bar and no programs *at all.* One for high, one for low, and one for high strobe, and nothing more. The rest is just clumsy. That's the only reason why I did not give it five stars.
