Great Drop-In Trigger for a new build.
Written on Jun 28, 2026
The trigger was an absolute breeze to install and the Lower Parts Kit was quite useful for a new build. The trigger is advertised @ 3 lbs and after averaging 5 measurements I came closer to 2.75 lbs. My Ruger 556 has an average trigger pull of 7 lbs. I just might replace my Ruger trigger for another one of these.

Ordered ad FDE version of this handguard but received an ODG version instead.

Review for
Magpul Industries MOE MLOK Forend
So I ordered a Flat Dark Earth version of this handguard and while I do understand that the Magpul FDE may not be a direct match to the FDE of mu Ruger 556, what I received is in no way even close. This is a Magpul issue not a Optics Planet issue. It came in a box labeled FDE but is actually ODG. Will need to return it so that I can get the correct one.

Very nice buttstock.
Written on Dec 10, 2024
Had to upgrade my Mossberg 500 which necessitated a grip that could accommodate a buffer tube and an adjustable stock. Read lots of reviews and all the negative aspects of this buttstock, specifically around the cheek rest, would not affect my use. I mated this with a Geissele Premium AR-15 buffer tube and together they provide a solid, rattle free fit. There is an adapter that comes with the buttstock that can be used with a non-Mil-Spec buffer tube but I didn't need it so I can't attest to it's efficacy on commercial grade buffer tubes. For me, I couldn't be happier.

Nice Grip for the Mossberg 500
Written on Dec 10, 2024
I had a Hogue Overmold grip for my Mossberg 500 and it was a wonderful grip, comfortable as all get out, however, a simple grip on a shotgun is not sanctioned by the socialist morons that run this state. I decided to get an adjustable stock that necessitated a new grip that could accommodate a buffer tube and new stock. After reading countess reviews I settled on this Pistol Grip. While it's not as comfortable as a Hogue, it was buffer tube compatible. It's quite sturdy, better than I expected and the textured grip is quite nice. While it works for me, anyone whose hand size is larger than a medium might find this a bit small. All-in-all I'm satisfied with the purchase and would do it all over again.

Upgrading my Mossberg 500.

Review for
Geissele Premium Mil-Spec Buffer Tube
I had a Hauge grip on my Mossberg 500 but since the Socialist State of NY deemed this inappropriate (besides, it kicks like a mule), I decided to change things up and replace the grip with a stock. First I bought the FAB Defense Moss 500 Pistol Grip, then the FAB Defense GL-CORE CP AR-15 Stock and lastly this Geissele Premium AR-15/M4 Mil-Spec Buffer Tube. The tube is beautifully built and the FAB stock slips on nice & tight with virtually no wiggle room. This is a quality buffer tube, definitely worth the price.

Not for Steel Case Bullets
Written on Nov 28, 2024
I bought this hoping that it would work with my Bear Creek 7.62x39 upper, the answer is, it depends. When I loaded Steel Cased bullets the rounds hang up in the magazine. I checked YouTube and there were all sorts of fixes to the various mags from different manufacturers, unfortunately none of the fixes pertained to the issues with this particular magazine. There are two dimples on each side of the curved top of the magazine. When you manually push a bullet forward, the recess between the primer base and the main body of the cartridge is hung up on the first dimple, then, as you continue to push the round forward, the second dimple again hangs up the round. It takes quite a bit of effort to get the steel case round to eject from the magazine. Also, I think that the corrosion prevention coating on the casings deter the round from smoothly ejecting from the magazine. I haven't been able to cycle, let alone shoot, a single steel cased round.
On a positive note: This magazine seems to like BRASS casings which seem to cycle quite nicely.
