As another reviewer said each part works as it is supposed to. The sharpener body is made of steel itself so I believe it will hold up well. the diamond rod is secured when closed or when opened with a strong magnet so it is easier to use and store, very nice feature i think. The magnet is nice also because it keeps the rod from opening in your pocket. It is small and therefore you need to be extra careful when using it, but it is meant to be small to fit in your pocket. I think it is perfect size and weight to carry on a hike or throw in your daily carry bag. I have only had the sharpener for a few days so I will update this review if need be. It also comes with well written instructions with pictures on how to sharpen your knife. It also shows how to use the sharpener in the correct order. All in all if you keep in mind this is more of a blade maintenance tool for the field that also has the ability to repair a blade edge you will be very satisfied. For the money you can not go wrong.

The other reviewer must of ordered the wrong bases. The way optics planet has there product view set up is tricky. You need to click each item specifically to change it to the item you want specifically. It is easy to get mixed up when ordering unfortunately. But either way I ordered the browning AB3 specific two piece weaver style bases for my browning AB3 30-06. I got them the other day and checked the screw size right away, and they fit, yesssss finally. I know browning wanted to go with the bigger 8-40 size screw for better scope mounting but my god has it been a nightmare trying to find these bases. Apparently only browning (tally) and Leupold make these bases with the bigger screw size for my rifle. You can't order from leupold as they are "sold out" and you are lucky to find them online if you do. Same story from browning. Although when I found these bases on optics planet I called browning to double check they are the correct bases for my specific gun. Browning confirmed they are the correct bases for my gun and come to find out Talley makes all of brownings bases and rings for them, and optics planet is a main wholesaler for browning products. So if you ever need browning products check here first, they do seem to have a lot of browning products. Now after you have read my rant, again these are the correct bases for the browning AB3 rifle. Just make sure the bases you order says browning AB3 or browning ABIII as there are 3-4 different model bases for different mode

The knife itself came as pictured. The damascus is nice. The blade came with a sharp enough blade to shave some arm hair. I did not think I would like the handle much but it is actually very comfortable. The knife is hand made, you can tell, but it is made very well with good attention to detail and all the edges of the handle are smooth. I have not tried the gut hook yet but i believe it is pretty sharp. The gut hook is at a shallower angle than the one in the picture, so hopefully it works well. The only issue I have with my purchase is that the knife did not come with the sheath as pictured. The sheath is still good quality leather but it has no snap. The sheath I received sits the knife deep into it so it wont come out easy, and the leather is folded over on the back to make a belt loop. It is a nice sheath but I wanted the one in the picture, that was half the reason I ordered the knife. If I had known that I would not get the sheath pictured then I would have ordered a different knife that I liked the style of better.
