Shaw AR-15 204 Ruger Threaded Barrel
Was expecting a Stainless Steel Barrel. They don't do a good job of what they mean buy matted barrel. I returned it as I want a traditional stainless steel barrel. The coating does not work for me!

I bought this for a Remington 700 in 7mm Mag
Written on Mar 07, 2025
Since the gun was a friends and a magnum round I choose to error on this more expensive model 50100 Rail.
If you need to save on price or your rifle is not a mag you can buy the model 40100 which is half thee price,
and probably works just as well. EGW makes a good product.

QR version mounts with only8 two screws.

Review for
UTG Pro ACCU-SYNC QR Cantilever Mount
If you plan to routinely dismount your scope it might be ok but there are only to screws holding the mount to the rail.
I returned it and choose the Non-QR version as it has 3 large screws and I have no use for a quick release.
Regardless of which you choose they look great, are well made and they have 8 screws for the scope.

Antelope Mount

Review for
Skull Hooker Flush Wall Mount
Bought this because it was less than half the price of the two piece unity, which is better looking.
But, this unit does what it's designed to do for mounting my Euro Antelope.
My antelope now sets next to my Wyoming Elk which uses the Large two piece Skullhooker.

medium priced Vortex

Review for
Vortex Viper 1x24mm Reflex Red Dot Sight
Is just that. Easy to mount, set up and use. It's functional but not quite acceptable.
What I really dislike is the dot visually is not a dot its more an uneven blur than a circular dot.
I have two different vortex models and they are both a disappointment.
The caveat is I don't have an expensive sight to compare with.
But a dot is suppose to be round.

Bought 2 of the SI Oppressors

Review for
Strike Industries SI Oppressor
Bought 2 of the SI Oppressors to match two of the Strike Muzzle Breaks (Jcomp2 & Triple Crown). They come with no instructions or trouble shooting recommendations. So watched a few YouTube videos.
Took the Oppressors out of the box and mounted them and then took them off.
Both of the Oppressors released in the locked/closed position.
Therefore could no longer be opened to be remounted.
Strike was contacted. Phone calls are not offered and emails are only offered demanding RMA information:
Photos of the oppressor, photos of muzzle breaks. description of weapon used. Type and how many rounds fired, copies of the original orders from the retailer, etc.
After 6 sets emails with Strike demanding RMA information, each time requestion new information,
No solution has been offered. Still waiting, it's been a week. They just want more information, half of which served no purpose in determining a fix, as the are not related to the circumstances and offer excuses as to why things are taking so long. One phone call could have establish a solution...60 seconds, verses 12 emails with no solution and a weeks effort. No solution has been offered. Still waiting
This negative review does not have any reflection on Optics planet. They are 5 star and are funding me the the purchase.

Constantly accurate and reliable
Written on Dec 29, 2024
Over a decade have been able to retain 1 moa out past 300yds with these bullets in my old Remington SS Custom 700 and newer SS Sako 85.
Velocity is somewhat higher out of the muzzle compared to non coated bullets. Keeps the barrel a little cleaner longer. Theses bullets in Winchester Ammo are discontinued and should you find a box of them they are no longer coated, though the box says they are.
One would assume these bullets will be hard to find in the future, as Nosler may discontinue as well.
Though I stand by theses bullets, the reality is the expensive newer technology ammo and bullets and longer ogive bullets are probably as good if not better.

great looking, strong,

Put on multiple rifles. They are not a perfect fit. A little honing is recommended.
For the money a great buy.

False advertising, not Optic Planets fault!
Written on Sep 06, 2024
The Ballistic Silvertip has a bullet with a Lubalox (Black Oxide) Coating. Which reduces engraving forces and barrel fouling. It really works, been using it for a decade.
Here's the rub.
The box you get when you buy the ammo from optics planet indicates a bullet with a Lubalox (Black Oxide) Coating. But the ammo inside the box does not have the Lubalox (Black Oxide) Coating.
Winchester does not seem to care that you are not getting what is advertised. I asked them why they sent boxes incorrectly labeled. Winchester only stated they quit using the Lubalox (Black Oxide) Coating as confirmed in an email they sent me.

No Lubalox (black oxide) Coating
Written on Aug 30, 2024
Winchester is selling Non Lualox (Black Oxide) coated ammo
in boxes that indicate the bullets are Lualox (Black Oxide) Coated.
I contacted Winchester and they replied they no longer use Lubalox coating.
They ignored me when I asked them why they are putting non lubalox bullets in boxes
that indicate the boxes contain lubalox coated bullets.
