Never Going Back to Standard AR15 Chargers

Written on Nov 23, 2022

I will never again install a standard charging handle on an AR15. I have nothing to say but great things about this product. I have it installed on an upper with a Sig Sauer Sierra 3BDX2.5-8x32mm Rifle Scope and angled iron sights; the barrel and BCG are 7.62x39mm. The rifle feels maximally ergonomic and natural to hold and shoot with this feature (in addition to my custom grip and stock). The left charging handle enhances the ergonomic functionality of the rifle and operation speeds are significantly higher than with standard charging handle configuration. I love that the handle piece remains stationary when firing rounds whereas something like a milled upper with side charging handle or standard AK47, you have external moving parts that can catch on slings or obstacles. And this handle can take abuse. I've stepped on it to charge with the rifle pointed up like DD Concepts showed in their demonstration video, and it did not break. You could probably repeatedly slam your rifle on concrete with this product installed and it will still function. You WILL have space to mount optics and you WILL optimize the ergonomic functionality of your rifle with this product as compared to a regular AR15. I want to eventually see if this product will function as effectively on an AR-10 build.

Worth the Price

Written on Nov 23, 2022

They are worth the price. I used them as work and driving gloves for about a month. Then the fabric started to tear at the fingertips. If you want to use these as dedicated work gloves you should probably invest in multiple pairs. I personally would recommend just investing more in better quality work gloves but these ones are decent and are definitely good for most work conditions. Just have spares on hand depending on the nature of your work. They are not insulated so I would recommend using hand warmers with these in freezing conditions. Not waterproof but they dry out quickly. Good, but not great is the short answer.

Awesome Jacket

Written on Nov 22, 2022

This is a great jacket that I feel very secure in. The pockets are the perfect size, very ergonomic, and can hold quite a lot of weight. I've actually been using this jacket as a sort of weighted vest for exercise. Put as many loaded AR mags in the pockets as will fit and go for a run, do some pull ups, etc. It will hold up. I also really like how the hoodie tucks and rolls into the neck piece. When fully zipped, you have at least an inch or more of material between your throat and the air so your neck and throat are decently covered. And the material does not trap moisture, retains heat, and allows air flow. It is all around a great jacket. I have not had a chance to weather test it in wet conditions but a waterproof overcoat would probably be sufficient to keep dry and stay secure.

Interior Pockets poorly Stitched

Written on Nov 22, 2022

The external pockets are very sturdy but less ergonomic than the internal pockets. When I practice drew from an internal pocket, the fabric tore where the pocket was (poorly) stitched to the jacket (bottom of the pocket). Also, the interior pockets are not fully stitched from top to bottom; they are partly attached to the jacket with velcro at the top of the pocket. I think they should be sewn from top to bottom all the way. Compact pistols are OK to tote in the interior pockets. I would not trust the interior pockets to properly retain something around the size of a gov't standard size 1911; the velcro is just not secure. The jacket is well made but not as secure as I would like it to be. No complaints about the mag pouches. Rothco, please remove the velcro from the interior pockets and sew them up. And consider maybe adding buttoned retaining straps to the interior pockets?
