Great BUIS

Written on Jul 15, 2024

The MBUS Gen 3 polymer backup sights have very good quality and usability for the price. I have a set of Magpul MBUS Pro metal BUIS on another rifle and, while the MBUS Pro sights seem slightly more durable and have a slightly lower folded height (which can be a plus depending on your scope mount height), the MBUS 3 polymer sights are more than adequate as backup sights as long as you take care not to mount them directly over the gas block (due to heat concerns on their polymer construction), and ensure they will fit beneath your optic when folded (if you need a lower folded height, opt for the MBUS Pros instead). They were easy to zero and so far, after a couple hundred rounds, have held zero. The depolyment button is also crisp and seems durable. Time will tell, but so far I think these are excellent backup sights for their cost and would recommend them to anyone seeking a durable, light, and affordable backup sight option.

Failed on First Use (Returned)

Written on Jul 01, 2024

I was excited to receive the Romeo4H (circle plex reticle). Opticsplanet had the best price and shipped it quickly. I have had very good experiences with Opticsplanet and use them as my main go-to for firearm-related items. So, this low rating is about the optic, not the seller. The optic was turned on at home after mounting and the reticle was bright and clear. I cycled through the four available reticles and everything looked good. Until I took it to the range for the first time to zero and test. The optic worked fine for the first 45 rounds and I was liking the reticle. But then, when firing rounds 45 through 50, the reticle started to flash and act strangely and then turned off completely. I tried a new, known-good battery and it would not power on at all. I then placed this known-good battery in another red dot, and it turned on and functioned flawlessly. I tried a 2nd known-good battery and no luck. The Romeo4H is apparently dead and will no longer turn on. So, it seems that the Romeo4H could not hold up to the relatively mild recoil of (45) 5.56 rounds. Opticsplanet was quick to provide an RMA and shipping label. As of today, the Romeo4H is in the process of being returned to OP via UPS for a refund. I will not buy another Sig Romeo product again as I have lost my trust in the Romeo line, which is unfortunate because I have an old Romeo5 which was been beat up, used with thousands of rounds and it still functions flawlessly. I may have just received a o

Great Bright Fiber But POA/POI Problem

Written on Nov 27, 2021

According to TruGlo's website, this model should fit all CZ 75 series pistols, including the P-01, which is the gun I ordered these for. After an easy install (they fit my P-01 slide perfectly), I was impressed with both the very bright fiber tubes in daylight and the better than average tritium brightness at night. So far, I was very happy with these sights. The problem started when I shot with these for the first time at the range. I set the target at 12 Yards and my impacts from benchrest using a combat hold were consistently 4 to 6 inches low. I tried another ammunition type, same result. Upon doing further web research and taking measurements of factory sights vs TruGlo sights, it seems that the front sight height is designed for the full-size CZ 75 pistols and is too high for the compact P-01, resulting in low impacts. While TruGlo's statement that these fit the P-01 is technically correct in that the footprint fits the front and rear slide cuts, they neglected to indicate that the front sight height is only accurate when used on the full-size series of CZ 75 pistols. I will be either returning to factory sights or ordering a lower front sight from Dawson Precision. So, I'm out the purchase money and will throw these in the parts box in case I ever purchase a full-size CZ 75 in the future. So, I would definitely recommend these sights if you have a full-size CZ 75, but DO NOT BUY if you have a P-01.
