The pouch hangs awkwardly

Written on Jun 26, 2024

It's not a nice tight attachment. When the pouch is mounted on the Leopold bino harness is just hangs in such a way that it flops around. To get a rangefinder out of this pouch will certainly take two hands and it'll be awkward getting it out. It flops around when walking. To run would require you to hold it tight with one hand to keep it from beating your chest. Poor fitment/attachment. It also mounts sideways, not forward. I don't like it.

It's hard to come down from Leupold

Written on May 04, 2023

I bought this scout scope only because the Leupold didn't have as high of magnification. But I wish I would have bought the Leupold anyway. This Burris Scout scope is of medium quality, but noticeably a downgrade from what I've made myself used to. My biggest complaint, and the reason for the 3 star review, is that the sub-reticles used for bullet drop at longer ranges are too fine to even see on a target, absolutely useless in the field. I'd rather have a simple reticle than this ballistic-plex that is of no use. Get the Leupold, the clarity and brightness will wash out the slight difference in magnification.

Excellent performance on Ruger/Marlin 1895 SBL

Written on May 04, 2023

With a Burris Scout scope this ammo produces 1" groups at 100 yards. This is the best ammo I tested yet from this rifle. I have had excellent results from most tsx and ttax bullets and ammo from Barnes.

Does not work at lowest magnification.

Written on Aug 21, 2022

Between 2x and 2.5x the eye relief goes back to about 20". This is a serious defect since scout scopes are often carried at their lowest magnification. One shouldn't have to keep in mind that there is a dead zone in this scope. I understand it's an inexpensive scope, but losing one opportunity in the field is not worth this low cost. Plus it's made in China. I'm new to Vortex and am dumping them die to this experience.
