Small and bright

Written on Feb 21, 2026

I needed a light for my Springfield Kuna and many forums mentioned this light. I found the price reasonable since this light has a metal body, pressure switch, and picatinny and M-LOK mounts. Though this light only takes one battery, it came with two rechargeable batteries. I always appreciate a spare. I was initially disappointed that the pressure switch was momentary only, but it is possible to press the button the light itself for constant on. I was trained with and used momentary switches on my duty weapons, so I wondered why I would want constant on anyway. Lastly, this light is bright, plenty bright for a CQB weapon like the Kuna or small PCC. The true test will be to see how it holds up after a lot of shooting. I am not too worried about that.

Solid charging handle

Written on Nov 26, 2025

I needed a charging handle for my new Aero Precision upper in anodized OD green. The color is so impressive that I couldn't get just any handle - it needed to be anodized ODG. It also needed to be sturdy and have sufficiently large enough handles for operating with one side lever. This charging handle meets both the function and appearance requirements. As with other Aero Precision parts, it can be a little hard to find in stock these days. I was happy to find it at a great price here at OpticsPlanet. I knew shipping would be quick and reasonably priced (in this case it was free).

Great Optic!

Written on Sep 03, 2025

I went with a prism because I have astigmatism and it's a game changer for me since the dot is now crisp. Another bonus with a prism is the etched reticle, so I have a reticle even if illumination is off or fails. Add the build quality, shake to wake, compact design, reasonable price, and this is my favorite optic.

I only found one con and it has nothing to do with the build of this optic - it's the fact that prisms have eye relief. I must have this optic closer to my eyes than a standard red dot. For me, there is no more mounting over the magwell. This can mean not having room for backup sights on some weapons. This is the case with my rifle and the popup sights I was using. There may be another type of rear sight I could use, but I am not too concerned with this particular weapon. However, this optic can co-witness with the Springfield Kuna popup sights when using the lowest included Swampfox mount.

I am so impressed with Swampfox that I will likely buy more of their optics for new builds, or to replace other optics.

Great Optic

I own another Swampfox Raider, which I like a lot. This one also is a winner.

These are the things I like:

- I can co-witness the popup sights on my Springfield Kuna with the low profile mount. My neck would have preferred that I use the included medium mount, but I wanted to be able to use the sights if needed.

- I like that this model doesn't have the Bullet Rise Compensation (BRC) reticle since I wouldn't attempt long shots with a PCC. The simple single dot is perfect for the Kuna. I also have the Raider with the BRC on an AR-15 and I love it on that weapon.

- The glass is so clear. This was made even more obvious since I was also shooting with a Sig Romeo 5 on a different weapon when I used the Raider for the first time. I like my Romeo and have no issues with it. I just think the Raider has superior glass.

- Shake to wake. No need to remember to turn off the optic.

- Windage has nice clean clicks when making adjustments.

- It's a prism, so I can see it clearly with my astigmatism.

- It normally has a good price, but it's a no-brainer when on sale at Optics Planet.

So far, there is nothing I dislike about this optic. This is the one possible con I can think of for some people:

- It's a prism, so it has eye relief. I know this is not a fault of this optic, but some people may not like the eye relief requirement. I prefer having a optic more forward on my weapons for a better field of view, but a prism is much better for me because of my astigmatism. It's a trade
