- Built like a tank, which makes it heavy.
- Awesome glass, mediocre reticle (but I personally like the TMR)
- Parallax adjustment on a 10x, can focus down to objects at very close ranges.
- No illumination (have to pay $500 extra just for that (Come on Luepold!))
Mounted on an AR10 with about 500 rounds of .308 on the scope so far. no issues whatsoever. The 2x on it is really good, at 10x is tight but the parallax makes up for it. Not sure if I would buy again, I have an NXS 2.5-10x42 and I slightly prefer it over this but maybe if the 2-10 had a better reticle it could top the NXS, but I will say the TMR reticle is very useable at 2x which can't be said for a lot of FFP scopes on their lowest power. Overall its a B+.
Installed these on a Begara B-14 ridge with a NF NXS 2.5-10X42 and had about a 1/4 inch of clearance. Rock solid mounting. Simple, strong, and light weight. No lapping was required. Plenty of clearance to feed rounds in and out of the action as well.
Scope is light and well built. Dials are easy to read and very tactile. Reticle is simple and effective. The glass is where is scope really falls short, especially at 200+ yards. Image becomes very grainy all throughout and distorted on the edges. I have had several vx-3i's that are clearer than this for a similar price. If you're just looking for a cheap close to midrange scope it would be ok, but would not recommend at all for long range shooting.
Steiner did it right and built this scope around the glass. Glass is clear and crisp, reticle is simple and easy to use (.223 zero at 200 yards use the lower hash marks for BDC). The scope body itself is robust and well built, perhaps a little bit on the heavy side for a small 4x scope. Biggest gripe is with un-tactile dials and the non-locking diopter. While zeroing I had no feedback from the dials when making adjustments, very mushy clicks, had to get a visual reading for every adjustment. Has a good range of day, night and NV brightness settings. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good entry-level LPVO.
