SOME SOFTWARE BUGS, SLOW SERVICE RESPONSE

Written on Sep 12, 2025

I have some thermals and I reviewed several including the Thor line, in the past few years. This scope is interesting and overall I would give it a 4 except for the slow response to questions and the non answer received when I asked about the zeroing coordinates.
A couple of points
1. The view is great at 3x, not so great at 15x
2. The scope failed to respond 3 time in the first 2 days I had it. One time I had to do a hard reset by holding the off button 15 seconds.
3. The one shot zero works pretty good
4. I am not confidant the BC is very exacting. I am having a good bit of difficulty sighting at 100y and getting accuracy at 200y. I do my own loads, have SD at under 20 and 1/2 moa at 100y.
5. At 200y I am off 2+ inches. Still working on how to adjust for this. Not much help from service so far. There are x,y coordinates for the zero but no info on how much the POI changes when the x,y changes (at any yardage, say 100y)
6. So while the zero at a specific distance seems to work well, the BC calculation needs some adjustment and ability to fine tune.
7. Not sure of battery life in cold climates
That's all for now.

Great scope, just really expensive

Written on Aug 12, 2022

I reviewed 6 thermal scopes. Ordered and tried AGM, ATN, Steiner and Pulsar. I chose the Pulsar due to weight (2 lb), clarity on 50mm, 17 micron lense, battery setup, and simplicity. I also liked the ATN at a much better price but the software was more complex and I would rather do my own ballistics. The thermion just seemed a bit more friendly and the rangefinder was builtin. Except for cost I liked this unit the best.

One month owner

I purchased this scope after reviewing 6 models including AGM, ATF, Steiner. I found it to be my best fit. At about 2 lbs with the rangefinder it was about the best. I tried some clip-ons but no good for me since my base scope started at 4x. To use a clip-on you really need a scope that starts around 1x (to much magnification when adding the clip-ons). I also like the base menu system on the Pulsar. I did like the ATN also but the firmware is more complicated and the unit with rangefinder was over 3 lbs.

This unit is in the top end. I like the 50mm lens, resolution 640x480 @ 17 µm (NETD <25 mK), battery set-up (one permanent one removable), and the scope adjustment / saved zeroing points).

I will be using it more this fall and have only shot targets at this point. The picture and video recoding is also good but many units have basically the same thing. I mounted this to my 6.5 Grendel.

great service

Written on Jul 11, 2022

I receive great service in processing my return. I reviewed 4 top of the line thermal scopes and I liked the Thor 4 but the weight was more than I wanted and the software a bit complex. I decided on a lighter unit.
