This is what I have on most builds unless I want something with a different color. Recommended to me most of the time by other experienced builders too. Great choice for a first mid-range or higher build.

This is a beautiful barrel. I was surprised how smooth and clean the bore was even after shooting at least a hundred rounds. It is an accurate barrel, very accurate even with CCI SV ammunition. I believe the barrel itself is on par with a good barrel built for quality full-size AR 22 cal uppers because I found shooting one of those that the group sizes were similar. Unfortunately I believe that the MP15-22 is limited by its handguard and receiver set flex because I found that moving from resting the rifle on the end of the handguard, right near the magwell, and on the mag well, each moved the point of impact at 50 yards by about an inch, so a dedicated non-polymer receiver set will be superior in all but the most controlled of rest positions. But that has nothing to do with this barrel. It's beautiful. The Volquartsen folks were very helpful and answered questions several times and also sent me out some parts for free that they didn't need to. Very impressed with the product and even more the company which I would recommend.

Shape of the grip is good. It's quite vertical so keep that in mind. The surface is not super grippy but neither is it slick. For hands with short fingers the diameter is on the large size at the bottom but not bad at the top. I was able to get a very close grip to the trigger for good finger positioning. I am able to reach well over the trigger well for "finger off trigger" position and a good firing position inside the guard. This as opposed to the standard A2 grip which is much too slanted for a comfortable modern stance or for good trigger reach across the guard. I do prefer the tactile feel of the Fab Defense Gradus grip but it is slightly less vertical so it's a matter of preference. I also find that the GCM Mod 0 Grip is similar or slightly less vertical to the Fab and although it's hard plastic rather than elastomeric like the other two, the grip feels pretty good. Not my 100% preferred angle so far but quite serviceable and the most vertical grip I've seen on a pistol AR grip so if you want more vertical, this is the mostest!

I’ve used mbus sites before, and I have nothing to contribute that hasn’t already been said. I was disappointed that the OD green on this particular one seems darker than usual, and almost looks like black when you see it. I would’ve assumed it was black if I didn’t look at it under various lighting conditions. And I’ve confirmed it on the package several times when I’ve picked it up because I keep thinking maybe I got black instead of OD green. I’m still gonna use it on my build because it’s going on a green upper so perhaps it will look better that way. if not, I may end up returning it in hopes that a different batch will be a better color. I’ve worked in plastics compounding and I know color match can be challenging, but this seems just way too far off. I haven’t used it on the weapon yet or fired it, but I expect nothing but five star performance otherwise

The profile on this grip and its verticality are both good. I have short fingers, so the narrow grip right up at the top of the Beaver tail is really good to get my fingers closer to the trigger for better trigger position and also to reach across the trigger guard to the other side and to the Mag release Provides a safer index location when I need my finger clearly off the trigger. The smooth texture is comfortable and gives adequate drip, although I much prefer the texture of the fab defense gradus grip because the grip as much more grippy, and I prefer a very solid purchase on the weapon. But this vertical grip gives me the closest hand position to the trigger and for those who have shorter fingers it is very helpful in that regard. If you have a longer palm, it’s also helpful because the bottom section is larger in diameter than the top, so it probably fits a wider range of hand sizes than other grips. Because the shape is narrower up top it also helps keep your hand slid up against the beaver tail providing a better stronger and more reliable grip and hand position to best reduce muzzle flip (probably much less important in a rifle than it is an a pistol, but I never feel like my hand is slipping off the grip, even though it is smooth). It’s funny because when I grip it without it being on the weapon, it seems too fat at the bottom, and not tacky enough, but on the weapon it is quite secure despite smooth surface and larger diameter because the top is still narrow eno

Color is beautiful. Greens can be hard to match. There’s so many shades. This one fell right in line with fab defense stock and grip. Excellent color match. Stock slides on snug and smooth. Very pleased.

I have one of these with a full beavertail in FDE on a home defense shotgun. It is the best feeling hand grip I own. There are some others that are slightly more vertical, which has a great deal to do with the comfort for me, but it is easy to grip and the rubber gives very good purchase. It’s a little bit on the slimmer side which is perfect for me. It turned out for this script shape. I needed the full Beavertail to make it fit seamlessly, but I can make this one work.

The stock is shorter than most. On a CQB rifle or shotgun it gives you the advantage of much better maneuverability. It is also shorter vertically. The shape makes it easier to tuck it in, slide it up, or drop it from the shoulder. Shorter handlers, or those wearing body armor, may also benefit. If you were going to run it high on the shoulder, you will need what you’re wearing to grip the bottom of the butt pad because it’s rounded rather than squared off. Stock fits nice and firm but smooth on the buffer tube and does not rock side to side or in rotation. It can move fore and aft a tiny bit, but I didn’t notice as I pull the weapon into my shoulder. It’s got less movement and feels more precise than other stocks I own. It doesn’t have a locking lever, but it still feels tighter than the two that do. It will take a cheek riser although it works for me without it. When I take the weapon, slide the stock to adjust it, and pull it into my shoulder, it feels the best of those I have, and inspires confidence.
