Plain and simple

Written on Jul 01, 2016

Very basic and classic, fits perfect as can be, nice and quiet. If you like leather and the natural feel of it this is great. Adjustment tension screw puts it just where you want. The molded shape of the leather fits like a glove. I Weather proof mine with J&J paste wax. Don't store your firearm in leather as a rule, as leather can absorb moisture. My Smith & Wesson model 60 stainless stays put when hunting wild pigs with dogs, but I dog bungee it in just in case it or I get snagged up going thru the jungle brush. I have to run and get through stuff quick so the dogs don't get killed. My rifle is a better choice for dispatching at a distance, it depends on the situation, but when needed that 60 gets out quick from the holster. Good luck.

Jungle Bush Rain Sun

Perfect for environment I use this pattern, the Asian Tiger camo. The material is the same weight as the BDU's. Heavy and stiff feeling(Tough). The design is great for rain, sloped top toward front. Keeps rain off back. Good stiff brim, with good memory(shape). I like it when I'm going through brush, the brim holds up and keeps small stuff out of my vision. Not floppy or sloppy. Good Luck.

Tough enough

Jacket is constructed well. Sizing correct for me. The weight of the material seems heavy and stiffer than 100% cotton. Cotton is softer and quieter, but not as durable, soaks up water, mud more than a blend. Lot's of trade offs. I got my Tiger stripe camo for hunting in the mountain jungle. It rains and it's muddy of course! The material needs to be washed and broken in some what. The sizing(something like a water spoof starch) takes a while to wash out. The more you wear and use it, it will get a little better. It's the poly blend I think that makes it stiff as well as noisy. Just go slower! Good Luck.

Light and comfortable

Really like the light weight for a hot weather hat, 100% cotton. Made very well. I got the desert tiger camo. The hat also has a pocket inside the headpiece for maps, notes, etc. the chin strap came with a plastic button keeper, rather than the leather kind. This retainer is great. Because of it's light weight it catches air. The materials weight used is perfect for hot weather though. Not something I'd wear in the rain. Kinda like match the hatch theory when choosing gear to wear. Good Luck.

Dust control

Finding googles that fit right and work is comparable to getting your regular sunglasses, reading, etc. to fit.
I was looking for a google that was smaller in profile. Other good googles all were a little large on my face, felt like wearing a welders shield. This works for me. Fogging is not as much a problem(use anti fogger). I think some of that comes from the goggles themselves covering so much of your face. Not a bad thing if you need more coverage and field of view. Protect your eyes. Good Luck

soft,comfortable,needs some tweeking

Written on Mar 04, 2016

Soft and comfortable but needs some work to make to more durable and extend its life. The stitching need to be seal here and there so as not to unravel. I also silicone the neoprene pad down so it lays flat. I did this after having and seeing problems from snagging up. I have a pair of knee pads and did the same. More Velcro was added to the straps too. That was just to make it fit tighter when needed. The camo pad is not like the ones pictured. It didn't have a second shield pad as shown. The design is like the black or olive color ones. They are just the ticket for being quiet and stealthy on hard uneven rocks. Makes a long crawling stalk fast and pain free.

Soft,quiet and cmfortable, needs tweeking

The terrain here on Hawaii is varied, the hard shell type work well as they should. But on the rocks and sharp lava flows it's kind of slippery and noisy unless I tape it up. These are made well and are comfortable, all day comfortable, sort of. Now the tweeking part which is not bad what I did to get it to better for me and the life of the pads. You may think these fixings are the price you pay thing. First the stitching at some parts need some gluing down. I silicone the edge of the neoprene pad down, the edge beyond the stitching is not flush and tight, it's not laying flat. It was done so stuff wouldn't snag under it. I also added more Velcro for a tighter fit. All this because my knees said so. Aloha. Good Luck.

Tough stuff, smaller than magazine pouch

Written on Mar 04, 2016

Trying to find the right carrier for my "stuff" is experimental at times. Having this one is a better fit for my GPS, PLD, or cell ph. I use the "goldilocks" method. Not to big, not to small, but just right. I hate pinching in something so tight on a carrier that it takes two hands to get out, or the opposite, so loose it's not there, or upside down. It came with 5 inch same camo speed clips. Construction, hardware, and material all very good, I'm going to get more. Good Luck.

Good things come in small packages

The size is right on small. Easy to hold one hand and focus. Issues with that is bracing it. I put the tripod on to use as a pistol grip, probably do something better. The tripod is "soft". It will work. But. Very toy like. The scope on the other hand is where the meat is. It does the job, The glass does have limitations. Good to hold with it's rubber coating. Simple construction for the price. The case was nice and functional. Good Luck.

When you really need them, and you'll probably use them(more)

Carrying optics has always been a chore for me. When you have expensive and fragile equipment, what you don't want is damage. So you pack it or pouch it. Out of sight out of mind. Pun intended. This harness puts the glass tight on chest and out of harms way, hands free. You don't have the weight of the strap on the back of your neck, no dangling into stuff swinging around. It's quick to spot something, let go, and move. I use only a small glass on mine, a M24 Fujinon. You can pull or slide the glass to your liking. When on a low crawl it stays put. Forget a flat crawl. You might want to make release clips or something to remove the glass from the harness anyway as it comes without. Take time to adjust it and practice using it. Good for your kit. Good Luck.
