Best small upgrade

I find these 100% necessary for a defensive 870. The factory safety is too small and awkwardly placed, this fixes that

Renders the rifle innoperable

Written on Feb 07, 2024

When installed with no sling there's enough space between the loop and forward assist to get a sheet of paper in between, but not enough space for an index card. This means that with my sling installed the forward assist is pressed into the tweets just enough to lock the bolt closed. I didn't think it was possible but GG&G really screwed the pooch on this one.

Standard Magpul Excellence

The K2 is good but not large enough, the K2+ is better but overmoulding does ugly things in the desert heat. This however is perfect for my hands. The K2 angle is better than the A1 in every way. If you don't have large hands this will probably be too much for you.
I always use the oil bottle storage pod and this one comes with one, saving me fifteen bucks.

Lighter and better looking than mil-spec

Written on Aug 29, 2023

This replaces a boring steel mil-spec dust cover and after adjusting the detent to my upper that I didn't realize was so worn.

The mil-spec + spring + Rod + C-clip weighs 0.742oz, this all-in-one is 0.4oz. It isn't much weight but when you do this to all of the small parts it adds up quickly, in both weight and money.

Perfect if it were 1/4" shorter

Written on Aug 29, 2023

The button is a bit less than a quarter inch taller than mil-spec, screw pockets threads end a quarter inch short of bottoming out. These two issues compound to make the button stand nearly a half inch proud of the bump fence.

Fortunately for me I own a #10-32 bottoming tap, a Dremel and a spare mag catch so I'll make it work.
